At the reporting meeting, the head of the Kostanay region Police Department, Yerlan Fayzullin, spoke about changes in legislation.
Since March 13, responsibility has been introduced for non-medical drug use.
A violator can get 10 days of arrest for taking drugs, even at home.
"It is enough to detect the presence of drugs in a person's blood or urine. Traces of the use of such substances can persist for more than a month," said Yerlan Fayzullin.
17 people have already been brought to justice in the region: 9 in the regional center, 3 each in Rudny and Zhitikar, and 2 in the Karabalyk district.
Such cases were identified during an examination after an accident, when stopping for traffic violations, as well as reports of family conflicts and violations of public order," the head of the traffic police added.
