Awareness in a particular area allows a person to build a line of behavior in such a way as to prevent a negative scenario of development. In the matter of religion, it is also necessary to have basic knowledge in order to protect not only yourself, but also society as a whole. The values of traditional religions such as Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism coincide with universal values and bring meaningfulness, stability, spirituality to the life of mankind. But due to low religious literacy, which generates distorted interpretations of the postulates of religions, as well as immorality, destructive and religious currents appear that pose a danger to humanity. This justifies the need to increase religious literacy of citizens through informing about traditional and non-traditional religions, basic precautions in real life and in social networks, developing the ability to distinguish between them, resist recruitment and critically analyze the information consumed.
To this end, a project on the prevention of religious extremism is being implemented. On September 29, Yerlan Bekishev, Head of the Internal Policy Department of the Akimat of Uzunkol district, and Yulia Kalyuzhnaya, head of the Association of Psychologists of Kostanay region, met with high school students from Kuibyshev rural district and Novopokrovka village. Together with the students , they understood the concepts: "traditional religion", "non-traditional religion", "destructive religious organization", "religious sect", analyzed and discussed excerpts from documentaries, social videos that show how religion differs from the so-called modern religious movements. The students learned about the reasons why people join sects, possible consequences, the mechanisms used by recruiters and ways to confront them, as well as basic precautions.
Now the guys are more prepared for a possible meeting with representatives of destructive religious organizations. After all, as you know, knowledge is the basis of security.
