The International Labor Organization has declared April 28 World labor protection Day in memory of workers who died or were injured in the workplace.
This day is celebrated annually in more than 110 countries around the world to draw the attention of the world public to the scale of industrial injuries associated with the work, morbidity and death of workers.
In Kazakhstan, it has been celebrated since 2003 and is a kind of indicator of determining the state and prospects for the next improvement of comprehensive work on Occupational Safety and health.
Favorable working conditions, the absence or low level of professional risks are the basis for the economic well-being of any enterprise.
The Republic has created and is constantly improving the legislative and regulatory framework in the field of Occupational Safety and health, and a comprehensive plan to ensure occupational safety and health is being implemented in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Increasing labor intensity and increasing the number of jobs require special attention to ensuring labor safety. Due to the relevance of this problem, the region is taking measures aimed at improving the efficiency of activities in this area, minimizing accidents, industrial accidents and occupational diseases.
In this regard, on the basis of specialized training centers in the region, training, training, retraining and advanced training of heads of enterprises and other categories of employees of enterprises and organizations of the region on Occupational Safety and health has been organized.
These and other measures taken are primarily aimed at implementing the main directions of state policy in the field of Occupational Safety and health in the region.
At the same time, there is an unsatisfactory Organization of Work Production on the part of employers, failure to ensure compliance with the requirements of Occupational Safety and health, lack of training in safe ways of working, as well as gross violations of the requirements of Occupational Safety and health on the part of the victims themselves, which lead to serious consequences.
In the first quarter of this year, the number of accidents related to labor activity at enterprises in the region decreased from 32 to 20 cases, or by 37.5%. There is a decrease in the number of victims of accidents from 35 to 21 people, or 43.0%, including: deaths from 2 to 0 or 200%, with moderate and mild results-from 26 to 13 people, or twice. At the same time, there is an increase in the number of victims with a severe outcome from 7 to 8 people, or by 13.0%.
In most cases, accidents related to the labor activity of employees are caused by manageable causes of an organizational nature, for example: violation of the requirements for Occupational Safety and health, unsatisfactory Organization of Work Production, unsatisfactory technical condition of buildings and structures, shortcomings in the organization of workplaces, lack of provision or use of personal and collective protective equipment, shortcomings in the training of employees for occupational safety, violations of Labor and production discipline.
As we can see, the human factor is present everywhere and in most accidents related to production activities, which is the cause of erroneous actions of the employer in the field of Occupational Safety and Health Organization.
In this regard, we advise managers of all levels, trade union bodies, enterprises and organizations, labor collectives of the region to take part in the actions dedicated to the world labor protection day and hold conferences, seminars, "round tables" in the third decade of April, check the state of workplaces, take measures to improve the culture of production, convey to the consciousness of each employee the importance of compliance with the requirements of the rules and norms of labor protection.
The holding of these events dedicated to the world labor protection day will give an additional impetus to the activation of work in the field of Occupational Safety and health, will contribute to the creation of safe working conditions at enterprises and organizations of the region.
