Every year, with the onset of the summer period, there is an increase in accidents that are associated with children falling out of windows.
On the eve of the summer period, we appeal to you with an urgent demand not to leave children unattended in rooms with open windows, even for a short time, as this can lead to tragic consequences.
Since the beginning of this year, 2 cases of children falling from apartment windows have already been recorded in our region. The children were seriously injured. As a rule, falls occurred at a time of lack of adult control, when children independently climb onto the windowsill, using furniture items standing next to the window as a stand and leaning on a mosquito net, fall out of the window with it.
Make the window safe! Do not allow the ridiculous death of your child! Elementary safety measures and your vigilance will help to save the life and health of your children! Every parent needs to know what safe windows for children should be, and what measures should be taken to reduce the risk of a child falling out of a window or balcony.
A reminder for parents
Most cases of falling occur when parents leave their children unattended. Do not leave small children alone.
Move all types of furniture away from the windows so that the child cannot climb on the windowsill.
Don't count on mosquito nets! They are not designed to protect against falls! On the contrary, the mosquito net contributes to the tragedy, because the child feels safe behind it and relies both on the window and on it. Very often children fall out with these nets.
If possible, open the windows from above, not from below.
Put special latches on the windows that do not allow the child to open the window by more than a few centimeters.
Protect the windows by inserting window bars. Grilles will protect children from falling out of open windows. If you are installing a grate on the entire size of the window, there must be a way to quickly open it in case of fire!
If you show something to the child from the window – always fix it firmly, be prepared for sudden movements of the baby, keep your palms dry, do not hold the child by the clothes.
