The KAZTEST system is based on a system of assessment of language knowledge by levels. The system has the ability to determine elementary, basic, intermediate, above average and high levels of Kazakh language proficiency. These levels correspond to the levels of European language reference, namely:
Level A1 (Survival/Breakthrough Level) – Elementary level,
Level A2 (Pre–threshold level/Waystage) - Basic level,
Level B1 (Threshold level/Threshold) – Average level,
Level B2 (Threshold Advanced Level/ Vantage) – Level above average,
Level C1 (Level of professional proficiency/Effective Operational proficiency) – High level,
Level C2 (Proficiency level / Mastery) – at this level, the user of the language speaks Kazakh at the level of a native speaker.
