The legendary hero of Zhabagy Batyr (XVIII century) participated in the struggle of the Kazakh people against the Dzungars. He was a relative of the famous Zhanibek Batyr, one of the companions of Ablai Khan.
According to legend, Zhabagy Batyr died as a worthy son of his people. A huge army of Dzungars invaded the steppe, Zhabagy Batyr led the army against the enemy. The battle lasted for a long time, in the battle the Kalmyks wounded Batyr's horse, he continued to fight on foot, but the enemy's arrow hit Zhabagi, Batyr realized that the wound was fatal. Gathering his tribesmen, he told them to dig a deep grave for the burial of the Dzungars, and then, making a high mound on the top, they buried him. Thus, he wanted to suppress the enemies who repeatedly attacked the land of the Kazakhs, so that they did not raise their swords against the land of the Kazakhs. Everything was done as bequeathed by Batyr. there is no doubt, local residents believe, that the lonely hill in the steppe, where Batyr's ashes rest, was made by the hands of people.
The burial place looks like a military guard, as if Zhabagy Batyr looks down from a height on the ground, protecting it.
Not far from the grave, at the bottom of the ravine, a stream flows, according to the old people, the water is sacred; the person who drinks water from the stream feels refreshed and healthy. Pilgrims often come here, pray here at night, heal themselves, praising Batyr Zhabagy, his Holy spirit. Descendants carefully preserve the campaign banners of Zhabagy Batyr.
