The Museum was established by decision No. 88-R of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR on February 4, 1972. Uzbekali Zhanibekov is the founder of the Museum of culture and a statesman of the Republic. The Museum's first Director was appointed Tanatkan Rzaev. The first exhibition was opened on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the legendary Batyr A. Imanov on July 28, 1973. The Museum is located in a spacious three-story building, which consists of 11 halls. The total area of the Museum is 1,365 m2.
Museum collections contain more than seventy-five thousand exhibits. During these years, the Museum's funds were replenished with valuable exhibits.
Interesting and deeply informative exhibition halls are filled with many secrets and fascinate from the very beginning of viewing.
Visitors will get acquainted with a variety of flora and fauna, natural resources, archaeological collections and other exhibits that characterize the history, culture and economy of the region.
The exhibition of the nature Department presents the vegetation and steppe landscapes of the region. On the panorama plan of the Sary-Kopinsky reserve, rare species of animals are displayed – ROE deer, wild boar, beautiful crane, owl, pink Flamingo and whooper Swan, etc. A unique exhibit is the remains of a southern elephant (mammoth) found on the Bank of the Turgay river.
The history of the Kazakh people goes back to ancient times. This is evidenced by primitive settlements and numerous archaeological finds.
The exhibition dedicated to the public and state figure reflects the great contribution to the development of culture of the region and the Republic of the historian, ethnographer Uzbekali Zhanibekov.
The theme of the great Patriotic war occupies a significant place in the exhibition. Photos and battle relics of our countrymen remind of the immortal feat of the Soviet people.
The exhibition "Astana – is a space Harbor". Here visitors can get acquainted with personal belongings of cosmonauts, accessories used in space and food.
The Museum offers its visitors a sightseeing tour of the Museum, organizes traveling exhibitions, and holds various events.
