For the World Day of Occupational Safety and Health

The International Labour Organization has declared April 28 as the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health in memory of workers who have died or suffered in the workplace.

This day is celebrated annually in more than 110 countries around the world in order to draw the attention of the world community to the scale of work-related injuries, morbidity and mortality of workers.

In Kazakhstan, it has been celebrated since 2003 and serves as a kind of indicator of the state and determination of prospects for the next improvement of comprehensive work on occupational safety and health.

Favorable working conditions, the absence or low level of professional risks are the basis of the economic well-being of any enterprise.

The Republic has established and is constantly improving the legislative and regulatory framework in the field of occupational safety and health, and is implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure occupational safety and Health in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Increasing the intensity of labor, increasing the number of jobs require special attention to ensuring labor safety. Due to the urgency of this problem, the region takes measures aimed at improving the efficiency of activities in this area, minimizing accidents, industrial accidents and occupational diseases.

In this regard, on the basis of specialized training centers, the region has organized training, training, retraining and advanced training in safety and labor protection for managers of enterprises and other categories of employees of enterprises and organizations of the region.

These and other measures taken are primarily aimed at implementing the main directions of the state policy in the field of occupational safety and health in the region.

At the same time, there continues to be an unsatisfactory organization of work on the part of employers, failure to ensure compliance with the requirements of safety and labor protection, failure to teach safe working methods, as well as gross violations of the requirements of safety and labor protection on the part of the victims themselves, which lead to serious consequences.

In the first quarter of this year, the number of accidents related to labor activity at the enterprises of the region decreased from 32 to 20 cases, or by 37.5 %. It is noted that the number of victims of accidents decreased from 35 to 21 people, or by 43.0%, including: with a fatal outcome from 2 to 0 or 200%, with a moderate and mild outcome from 26 to 13 people. or twice. At the same time, there is an increase in victims with a serious outcome from 7 people to 8 people. or by 13.0%.

In most cases, accidents related to the work of employees are caused by manageable organizational reasons, such as: violations of safety and labor protection requirements, unsatisfactory organization of work, unsatisfactory technical condition of buildings and structures, shortcomings in the organization of workplaces, lack of security or non-use of personal and collective protective equipment, shortcomings in the training of workers in labor safety, violations of labor and industrial discipline.

As we can see, the human factor is present everywhere and in most accidents related to industrial activities, it is it that causes erroneous actions of the employer in the field of occupational safety and health.

In this regard, we recommend that managers of all levels, trade union bodies, enterprises and organizations, labor collectives of the region take part in actions dedicated to the World Day of Labor Protection and in the third decade of April hold conferences, seminars," round tables", check the condition of workplaces, take measures to improve the culture of production, bring to the consciousness of each employee the importance of meeting the requirements of the rules and standards of labor protection.

The holding of these events dedicated to the World Day of Occupational Safety and Health will give an additional impetus to the activation of work in the field of occupational safety and health, will contribute to the creation of safe working conditions at enterprises and organizations in the region.
