Berik Asylov on countering drug trafficking
This is a pressing problem that affects entire families, destroying the lives of both consumers of this potion and its sellers. Therefore, the state is doing its best to combat this harmful phenomenon.
The Prosecutor's Office, in turn, together with law enforcement agencies, carries out a continuous fight against drug crime. Last year, 37 international and 98 regional drug channels were suppressed. 25.6 tons of drugs were seized from illegal traffic.
95 drug laboratories have been liquidated.
In general, we are changing the emphasis in this work, now they are focused on identifying the real organizers of the drug business, cutting off supply channels and establishing criminal income and shadow flows. Acting on the principle of "follow the money", we contact the major organizers of drug networks. Assets worth 2.8 billion tenge in cryptocurrency have already been frozen.
It's no secret that we need to work together to resist this evil. Effectiveness largely depends on the trust and support of the population, which is why we also work closely with public organizations and citizens. At the initiative of the prosecutor's office, the action "Nashakorlykka zhol zhok" is being held in the country, as part of which drug graffiti is being destroyed, four times as many criminal cases have been initiated for drug advertising and propaganda.
Almost every region implements its own projects with the involvement of the local community, students, and volunteers. It is encouraging that there are very active young people who do not stay away from problems, but join our initiatives. For example, in the capital, the No Drugs service (in the Smart Astana app) and the Zhastarmen chatbot in Almaty are actively used by the population. In many regions, municipal services of akimats are involved in the work on graffiti destruction.
In East Kazakhstan Region, prosecutors, together with interested authorities and businesses, launched the "STOP the drug!" initiative and created a private foundation. This project provides for the payment of remuneration to persons who have provided reliable information about drug violations. There are already examples when the person who reported the distributor was paid an amount of more than 300 thousand tenge.
I would like to emphasize once again that the future of our citizens, especially the younger generation, depends on the effectiveness of universal efforts to combat drug trafficking.
In conclusion, I would like to note that every citizen should cultivate law-abiding, develop character, and develop his own behavior, which will embody high moral, ethical, and cultural principles.
Each of us must start with ourselves. As our President says, "Justice and order are things that we must cultivate at all levels. Without this, it is impossible to create a strong and healthy nation."
