Berik Asylov on the use of digital technologies in work
Modern IT solutions, robotics, and artificial intelligence have a serious impact on the development of all spheres of society, increasingly encompassing the processes of life. New illegal challenges are emerging.
Our Criminal Code has introduced new types of crimes that are committed using the Internet, the tools of technological progress. There are even areas that, at first glance, have nothing to do with information technology.
For example, children are now being encouraged to commit suicide through social media. Therefore, in the Criminal Code, the article "Driving to suicide" introduced responsibility for committing such a crime through the use of telecommunications networks. There are other types of criminal offenses committed through the use of the Internet and electronic information resources, including the sale of drugs.
The Prosecutor's Office, as the coordinator of the work of state agencies in combating crime, accumulates all the resources of the state apparatus, including cyber resources in countering antisocial phenomena. We are constantly looking for creative solutions and mechanisms for effective work in this area.
The Prosecutor General's Office already has a number of unique statistical, information and analytical systems. Our digital projects maximally cover criminal and administrative processes, the sphere of state control and supervision, including business inspections. To do this, we use the accumulated large amount of legal information – Big data.
The criminal process and registration of crimes have been fully digitized. All information about the state of crime is uploaded to a "Geo-map", on the basis of which police patrol routes are built. Anyone can open a map on the Internet and see where the safest places for children to live, study or spend their leisure time are located.
As part of countering the propaganda of terrorism and extremism on the Internet, we are successfully using the Cybernadzor information system. It allows you to install and automatically include links to materials with illegal content in the system.
Thanks to the predictive and analytical tools of our Situation Center, the efficiency of tracking not only criminals, but also debtors on alimony and debts to the budget has been improved. With the coordination of prosecutors, more than 2,000 individuals have been identified using these systems.
