Detention of Poachers

In pursuance of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on toughening measures to combat poaching, reflected in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan on September 1, 2021, on December 8 this year the Department of the NSC for the Kyzylorda region, together with the regional prosecutor's office, carried out a special operation to suppress the illegal activities of a criminal group involved in organizing a channel for the illegal production and sale of saiga horns.

When trying to sell a large batch of derivatives, two residents of the region were detained, who organized a criminal scheme. Seized 2347 saiga horns with a total weight of 500 kilograms.

To obtain them, 1,174 saiga were killed by poachers. The damage to the state from criminal activity is estimated at 5 billion tenge.

As a result of poaching, significant damage was caused to the saiga population in Kazakhstan.

Suppression of Arms Illicit Trafficking Channel

December 8 this year the Department of the NSC of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Mangistau region, with the involvement of the Special Forces Division “Berkut” of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhsta in the Zhanaozen city, carried out a special operation to detain a criminal group involved in the manufacture and sale of firearms.

While trying to sell the “Kalashnikov” assault rifle, a resident of the city was detained red-handed.

During the search of the accomplices' places of residence, a “Makarov” pistol, 2 sawn-off shotguns, ammunition, as well as various types of drugs (“mephedrone”, “opium”) were seized on an especially large scale.

The detained members of the group made confessions, with respect to three of them a preventive measure was taken in the form of detention.

A pre-trial investigation is underway under Articles 287 (illegal sale and storage of weapons) and 297 (illegal possession of drugs) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The involvement of the detainees in other crimes is being established.

Illicit arms trafficking poses a serious threat to society and the safety of citizens in view of the high risks of its use by representatives of criminals, extremist and terrorist organizations to commit illegal actions.

Opening and suppression of channels of illegal circulation of firearms is one of the priority tasks of the NSC bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Rewarding the Participants of the Special Operation «Nabat»

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart K.Tokayev, on December 13, 2021, the Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Karim Massimov, presented state awards to the participants of “Nabat” Operation: Order of “Aibyn” 1st Degree to the Reserve Colonel Batalov Amangeldy Gabbasovich, Orders of “Aibyn” 2 degree to the Reserve Colonel Ablakov Anvar Fatikhovich, the Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Zhumabekov Serik Kakimovich and Kalinovsky Vladimir Pavlovich, the Reserve Major Semyonov Sergey Vladimirovich and the Reserve Captain Medetov Askar Esikbaevich.

The solemn event is dated for celebrating 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Reference: in February 1992, in Shymkent, special forces officers carried out an operation to neutralize a group of terrorists who had seized a regular bus.

The operation has become a classic example of the fight against terrorism, becoming the hallmark of Service "A". Its uniqueness lies in the fact that for the first time in world practice, a successful assault on a bus hijacked by terrorists was carried out.

In 1992, the young independent republic did not yet have state awards and the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev presented certificates of honor to all members of the special forces.

It is symbolic that 30 years later, in the anniversary year of Kazakhstan's Independence, deserved awards have found their heroes.

THE MOMENT OF PRIVATE GAIDAI

The sun just recently, standing at its zenith, hiding behind the tops of trees, slowly rolled over the horizon.

The calm waters of the river rippled calmly in the reflections of the sunset.

Suddenly the evening silence was pierced by children’s screams.

Little girls screamed as they ran across the bridge and looked at the reservoir in panic horror ...

That evening, the senior instructor of special dogs at the Bidaik border checkpoint (auto) of the Petropavlovsk border detachment, Private Sergei Gaidai, after the night shift, decided to take a short walk along the river bank.

As a boy, Sergei ran to this pond with a fishing rod. With friends, he raced across it up and down. He splashed with joyful laughter in its transparent waters.

This quiet reservoir kept many vivid memories from a carefree childhood.

Nothing has changed since then. Only the wooden bridge connecting the village with the «town» - the modern part of the settlement, became dilapidated over time, and its old boards creaked and swayed underfoot.

Arriving at the shore, Sergei looked around.

Hearing the sudden cry of a child, he turned his gaze to the pond, in which a woman was floundering hopelessly.

The border guard, without hesitation, jumped after her.

The chill of icy water pierced his entire body. But this circumstance did not diminish his decisiveness. In no time, the dog handler swam to the drowning woman and wanted to push her to the shore. But the woman, choking and crying, pointed to the bottom.

Sergei realized that there was someone else under the water.

The young man, drawing air into his lungs, dived into the pool.

Having touched the bottom, he began to feel it: he came across some incomprehensible objects under his arms - fragments of a hose, pieces of iron.

Almost gasping for breath, but continuing to search feverishly, Sergei finally caught hold of someone’s clothes. Sharply jerking it up, the border guard emerged to the surface with the child.

By that time, the woman, completely exhausted, was lying on her back, almost motionless. Sergei laid the child on his stomach and with an incredible effort pulled both of them to the shore.

The five-year-old boy Nuradil showed no signs of life. Not at a loss even at this moment, Sergei, with quick, dexterous movements, provided first aid. He gave the child artificial respiration and chest compressions.

To everyone’s joy, the boy opened his eyes and breathed.

After recovering a little, Makhabbat Zhetpisova, grateful for the salvation, said that, unable to swim, she jumped after her son, who fell into the water due to a broken rotten board under his feet, crossing the bridge.

***

With his decisive actions, Private S. Gaidai fulfilled his civic duty, showed self-control and endurance and saved, as it turned out, not two lives, but three: the woman he saved was pregnant.

The relatives and friends of Makhabbat thanked Sergei for his heroic deed. And they assured that only a border guard could act so selflessly.

***

The relatives and friends of Makhabbat thanked Sergei for his heroic deed. And they assured that only a border guard could act so selflessly.

Once a famous writer said: “A moment is enough to become a hero. But it takes a lifetime to become a worthy person.» - Tooting.

And if you think about it, not everyone will lend a helping hand, while risking their own life and health: one will hasten to pass by and will not even look towards the dying person; another will begin to coolly shoot everything that happens on a smartphone camera. And only a few, people with truly moral souls, without hesitation for a second, will rush into the fire, throw themselves into the icy water, selflessly saving the life of another person.

Heroism is inherent only in noble individuals with enormous spiritual and moral resources, such as those of the border guard Sergei Gaidai.

***

The act of Private S. Gaidai was assessed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Yerlan Turgumbayev. On his behalf, in a solemn atmosphere, the serviceman was awarded the medal «For the rescue of drowning people».

With words of gratitude for the upbringing of employees - real defenders of the Motherland, devoted to the people and interests of the Border Service, a letter of thanks came from the Rector of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General of Justice Yergali Merzadinov.

By order of the Director of the Border Guard Service, Lieutenant General Darkhan Dilmanov, for his determination, courage and bravity, Private Sergei Gaidai was awarded the title of the Best Border Guard of 2019.

IN THE SNOW CAPTIVITY

On a deserted highway, among the bare steppe, six cars got into a snow drift and got stuck.

A young family with a newborn baby in their arms, who, together with his mother, had just been discharged from the hospital and taken home, was also captured by the storm.

The head of the family, without leaving the car, contacted the Ministry of Emergencies by cell phone. But the rescuers could not help because of the great distance from the scene. Peering into the impenetrable snow mist, the man feverishly thought about what to do next. There was the deserted steppe all around. The nearest village is tens of kilometers away. And walking blindly, with a baby in her arms, in the absence of visibility and a strong gusty wind with a blizzard, was unrealistic. And it is very risky.

In the midst of the raging snow, the spouses were sitting with fear and anxiety in a cold (fuel had to be saved) car for several hours. But to their great luck, the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations contacted the border guards.

***

The weather began to deteriorate even after lunch. First, snowflakes fell from the sky. The wind picked them up and carried them away. With each passing hour the hurricane intensified and was already spinning the snowflakes like a whirlwind. Heavy snow clouds hung over the ground. Soon one of them - a huge white one clouded most of the sky, and then covered the entire horizon. It seemed that heaven and earth merged into one. So, on March 10, 2021, a storm began in the Uzunkol district of the Kostanay region.

In such weather, if possible, it would be better to stay at home, covered with a warm blanket, watch the bad weather through the window, or spend time reading an interesting book. But, as a rule, on a weekday, despite the serious blizzard, many people had a lot of things to do, responsibilities that cannot be delayed.

The Head of the Ubagan border department, Major Beisenov Kurmet, relying on life experience, gave the command to the personnel to be ready for non-standard situations, and to the foreman to prepare the special equipment of the unit: MTLB, tractor, snowmobiles. In such bad weather, anything can happen and you need to be fully armed so that at the first need to move forward to provide assistance to people in trouble. Indeed, in the 30 km district, there will be no one to help the local population except the border guards.

The officer was absolutely right.

At 10 p.m., the border guards learned about the people who were captured by the snow.

The Head of the department decided to help the citizens in trouble and sent an «Alarm Group» after them.

Meanwhile, the blizzard intensified. The frost was growing stronger. Visibility was zero. But the bad weather did not frighten the servicemen. They were afraid of only one thing - not to be in time. After all, in such a cold, freezing was a simple matter.

The driver of the tractor, senior technician, warrant officer Sergei Keshchin, gazing intently at the snow-covered road, made his way through the snowdrifts.

At the same time, Colonel A. Zhumakhmetov and the servicemen of the Border Service Department in Kostanay region left Kostanay to help their colleagues, risking losing their way. In addition, two groups led by Colonels N. Narbayev and M. Yergaliyev moved forward on two snowmobiles.

Time was running out inexorably, and people in trouble were still not visible. The border guards rode in complete silence. Each of them in their souls experienced their own storm of emotions and worries about the life of the baby, his parents and other citizens. The road seemed endless, and the blizzard seemed to be some kind of powerful and evil element.

But in the distance, through a snowstorm, the border guards saw faint flashing headlights. Sergei Keshchin turned the tractor in their direction. Time was running out inexorably, and people in trouble were still not visible. The border guards rode in complete silence. Each of them in their souls experienced their own storm of emotions and worried about the life of the baby, his parents and other citizens. The road seemed endless, and the blizzard seemed to be some kind of powerful and evil element.

The car was almost completely covered with snow. The soldiers had to dig the equipment out of a snowdrift. Finally, having opened the car doors, they took the hands of the already completely desperate man and woman who had chilled. The father of the family said with a tremor in his voice: “I knew, I believed that it was the border guards who would surely save us. You are real heroes. Thank you!»

Then, through the blizzard and howling wind, the border guards took the family couple with the newborn to their department, where they were fed and warmed with hot tea.

Happy young parents assured that while their baby is growing, they will tell him about the bravery, courage and responsiveness of warriors in green caps. Moreover, in the future, their son will definitely become a border guard, because they owe their lives to them!

In general, 22 people were evacuated that night by the servicemen of the Border Service Department of the KNB in the Kostanay region.

In whatever harsh living and climatic conditions the border guards serve, none of them hardens soul. They are always ready to lend a helping hand.

HEROIN SERPANTINE

This war, unleashed in different parts of our planet, kills silently. More and more people are dying from drug use, and not only in Afghanistan, which produces about 90 percent opium, distributed throughout the world, but also in countries far from this Southern-Asian region. Every year hundreds of tons of heroin are exported from here, the bulk of this deadly cargo ends up in Russia and Europe. In turn, the money from the sale of drugs goes to finance organized crime across all continents and continents. The proximity of the world source of drugs imposes its own specifics on the working days of Kazakhstani border guards.

Border guards detained a large batch of heroin at the border with Kyrgyzstan. It happened on December 10, 2020 at a car checkpoint. They tried to smuggle drugs in, as is often the case, in a Toyota Prado SUV.

On that day, junior sergeant Maksat Dautayev, senior technician of the inspection and inspection complex of the Border Directorate for the Kordai region, routinely took up military service in the border control department «Kordai». When inspecting a Kazakh car traveling from Kyrgyzstan, an X-ray machine showed an object hidden in the bowels of the car.

Taught by many years of experience, the border guard realized that they had hidden the cargo so carefully for a reason, and decided to send the vehicle that aroused his suspicion for an in-depth examination. A service dog named Jack smelled heroin, as it turned out later, weighing more than 60 kilograms.

By a presidential decree, Junior Sergeant Maksat Dautayev was awarded a state award for his vigilance - the Order of Aibyn, III-rd degree.

This is not his first arrest. In 2017, he stopped an attempt to smuggle 2.5 kg of heroin and 16.7 kg of marijuana across the border, for which he was awarded the departmental medal «For excellence in guarding the State Border.»

***

During inspection at checkpoints, service dogs show themselves as irreplaceable helpers. In March of this year, at the «Syrym» (automobile) border control department, the night shift checked a Renault Magnum car, the driver of which, on his way from Bishkek to Samara in transit through Kazakhstan, was towing a «Foton» car on a rigid coupling. Senior instructor junior sergeant Kanat Tulenov conducted an examination with a service dog named Lady. The four-legged friend never let its partner down, so when the dog lay down at the rear wheels, whined, then jumped up, wagged its tail, the senior instructor became alert.

During an in-depth inspection with the use of special technical means of border control when opening one wheel, the border guards found a cache equipped in the cavity of the tire. It contained briquettes wrapped in plastic wrap, and there was a specific smell in the air. As the examination showed, the detainee tried to smuggle 39 kilograms of heroin and 96 kilograms of hashish across the border.

Experienced border guards emphasize attentiveness and good memory among the main qualities that a controller should have. After all, the guys in green caps must have time to study the documents and to get accustomed to people. And, vigilance at the same time is never superfluous.

Messages from the state border are becoming an informational occasion for many Kazakhstani media. Most of all, in the electronic media they like to relish incidents with the seizure of hard drugs. «Pen Sharks» competently cite exotic names of narcotic substances, indicate the weight of the arrested potion, but a rare correspondent takes the trouble to grasp the essence of what happened. Meanwhile, behind the bright wrapping of sensational material, the daily work of the «green caps» and their four-legged assistants remains unnoticed. They try to tempt the border guards with bribes, sometimes they threaten - but, every border guard knows, the border must remain «locked.»

And our examples are evidence of this.

FATHER, YOU CAN BE PROUD OF ME!

Private Daniyar Onerbay pressed the grenade tightly with all his fingers and pulled out the safety pin, pulled his right hand back for a throw and ... unexpectedly dropped it right under his feet ...

On June 19, 2019, ordinary exercises were held at the KNB Border Academy training ground - soldiers of the military unit 2027 threw combat grenades. During the field training, the soldiers had to practice their skills in throwing grenades. And yet the exercises were commonplace, most likely, for the officers, and for the recruits it was an important event.

On the eve, the soldiers of the communications regiment discussed the upcoming test for a long time. All of them were united by a premonition of something significant, real, perhaps the most important in their, at that time, not rich in the events of a soldier’s life.

On that day, the deputy commander of the unit, Colonel Sergei Smitskikh, in the literal sense of the word, a wise person, was the senior at the training firing point. Behind the officer’s shoulders there is a cadet school, the Military Institute of the KNB, years of service in the Zaisan, Chundzhinsky, Karasai border detachments, in the regional administration «Shygys». In the late nineties - early 2000s, the colonel participated in the deployment of the Saryagash border detachment. At that time, together with other border officers, he made a lot of mental, physical and moral efforts to ensure that new border outposts and commandant’s offices were formed in a bare place in the shortest possible time and, most importantly, functioned.

And here is the shooting range. Weary from the long journey, the soldiers looked around with curiosity. The division was assigned to training points.

Soon, at the very edge of the field, the first group listened attentively to the last instruction before the start of the exercise. It seemed that at that moment all the hardships and deprivations of a soldier’s life for the soldiers remained somewhere far from the firing line. How much joy and childish enthusiasm there was in these young faces in anticipation of a truly military occupation. The soldiers wanted to become real soldiers, to be like their commanders.

With particular attention, the recruits watched as their experienced mentor once again showed and explained the order of the grenade throwing exercise.

And now the first explosions were heard.

The soldiers holding their breath, from under cover watched the actions of their colleagues.

Colonel S.Smitskikh , as expected, was in the trench.

The guys one by one ran up to the head of the lesson, where one by one they performed the exercise dexterously, clearly, without unnecessary fuss and excitement.

Then the fighters, pleased with themselves, proud that their hand did not flinch at the most crucial moment, returned to the dugout and encouraged others with a friendly pat on the shoulder, who still had to pass the test for courage, telling them that everything was not so scary as it seemed at the beginning ...

Time passed quickly. It was the turn of Private D. Onerby. Overcoming the fear treacherously lurking in his soul, Daniyar bent down and ran along the winding paths of the trench to his mentor.

And here they are together at the edge of the field. Colonel S. Smitskikh, looking into the eyes of the soldier, once again repeated the procedure for him. And only then he handed over a combat shell.

But the soldier did not complete the task. The grenade fell into the trench. At any second, it could explode and kill a soldier with an officer. As in a stupor, Daniyar, not understanding anything, stood and looked at his feet.

It took Colonel Sergei Smitskikh a fraction of a second to assess the situation, make the only correct decision and react instantly. With a quick movement of his hand, he threw the grenade away into the trench and, risking his life, covered Daniyar with himself.

A moment later, the grenade exploded half a meter from the officer with the soldier.

The explosion seemed to deafen them: the ringing silence lasted so long. Then, as if from afar, the shouts of the soldiers and the alarmed voice of the regiment commander were heard.

The officer woke up already in a military hospital, where, on an emergency basis, he and the soldier were taken and operated on.

Both survived. Miraculous.

***

They were placed in the same hospital ward. Daniyar recovered quickly, cheerfully, with undisguised interest, constantly questioning his savior about the service at the border and worried that because of the incident he had lagged behind his colleagues, who had long been sent to the border outposts.

Looking at the young boy, Sergei Viktorovich, despite the burning pain from multiple shrapnel wounds received, never once doubted the correctness of his bold act.

And how could he have done anything else?! No! He could not. After all, it was precisely for such qualities as the courage and courage of officers that he once chose the fate of a military man. After all, this is exactly what his father once was, and died in the line of duty.

***

As a very young boy, he admired and was proud of his father, the captain of the fire service of the Markakol region, Viktor Smitsky.

The officer remembers how often on the sly, when his parents were at work, he took out his father’s dress uniform from the closet and admired the medal «For Courage», which Viktor Andreyevich was awarded for saving people in a fire.

He remembers his father as a tall, stately man, with a kind smile, strong arms and a confident gait.

His working day was often irregular. It happened that even in the middle of the night, my father would break loose to help people in trouble.

But those rare days when Viktor Andreevich was at home were considered a real holiday for the whole family.

Sergey Viktorovich also remembers that fatal July day when, due to the record heat, a forest caught fire in the mountains. The fire embraced a huge territory.

Firefighters from all over the Kurchum Territory went to fight the fire element. Among them was his father - a courageous firefighter, with all his heart devoted to his profession.

On one of the sites in a hilly area with steep slopes, a fire engine, in which Viktor Andreyevich was, fell off the mountain and turned over several times.

So Colonel S. Smitskikh was left without a father, without his most important mentor in life. But his dedication to his chosen profession, dedication and courage were still passed on to him - his son.

Therefore, it is not surprising that, covering the fighter with his body, saving his life, Sergei Viktorovich did not hesitate for a minute. He didn’t think about his own safety.

The courageous act of the colonel, who put the officer’s duty above his life, was highly appreciated by the President of the country K. Tokayev. The officer was awarded the Aibyn order of the 1st degree.

Now he, like his father, will have an order for courage on his ceremonial tunic.

“Father, you can be proud of me,” the officer mentally turned to his dearest person.

AEROBATICS OF CONTROLLER SALMENOVA

Despite the deep night, the passengers of the train did not sleep. The train had just crossed the Russian checkpoint, and now they had to go through passport control at the Kazakh border guards.

A citizen of Tajikistan is on the bottom shelf of one of the carriages. With her compatriots she went to her homeland.

Taking the passport in hand, the woman sat down by the window. Her heart was beating wildly. She tried to calm down, mentally assuring herself that this time, like the previous seventeen, she would safely pass the passport check. No wonder she had to spend so much on forging a document ...

On September 30, 2018, a passenger train between Moscow and Andijan stopped at the platform, creaking with brakes.

Clanging the bolts, the doors of the vestibule opened.

A fragile, graceful girl in border uniform entered the car. In her right hand she held a small suitcase.

It was corporal Olesya Salmenova.

She glanced at the overflowing with people reserved seat carriage and, having opened the MARM, proceeded to check the documents.

- Hello. Please, show your passports, she said politely but efficiently to the passengers.

The time was approaching four in the morning. But all the tension of the past day, all the fatigue, the controller skillfully hid behind a polite, charming smile.

Passengers gave her their documents one by one.

From the outside, it seemed that the controller was mechanically driving the data of citizens crossing the border into a computer. Only for a second her gaze rested on the face of the person being checked when checking the photo. But only the border guards know that during this time she has time to carefully study the document, make sure of its authenticity, and verify it with the “closed loop” database.

The shift methodically and thoroughly checks car after car. A dog handler with a service dog examines the luggage for illegal substances. Controllers with special technical means investigate secret places.

But now the last passenger presented his passport for verification. Lance corporal O. Salmenova, smiling, looked at the woman. The citizen looked about 37 years old. Her movements were confident; her face seemed to express calmness. But for some reason she stubbornly averted her gaze.

Olesya intuitively understood that the passenger was hiding something. And she carefully focused on studying her document. At first glance, everything was in order. The passport, although a little shabby, but all the records and date-stamps were clearly visible. The image in the document corresponded to the bearer.

“What makes me so alarmed?! Really intuition deceived me this time, - Salmenova thought intently studying the passport. - Here the mole on the right is the same. And the wrinkles in the eyes are the same as those of the passenger. Stop. What are the wrinkles? Judging by the date, she received her passport ten years ago. What could this mean?! Exactly! The photo was taken quite recently. And the passport is old ... Well, yes. This is true. Fake. So the print line is shifted in one place. Although, we must pay tribute, everything was done professionally».

After asking the woman a couple of leading questions, the controller noticed the passenger’s obvious excitement, and her breathing became more frequent.

The corporal was inwardly triumphant. But she didn’t show it. Only again, with a polite smile on her face, asked the woman to go with her into a separate compartment and called the senior shift.

During the filtration measures, the citizen of Tajikistan admitted that the presented document belongs to her sister. And later it turned out that the detainee was also on the federal wanted list in Russia. But for her this was not an obstacle, and she managed to cross the state border seventeen times, flying and traveling by train to different countries.

By the way, the examination showed that the passport turned out to be a complete forgery with high-level seals and watermarks. It is not surprising that for several years the border guards of the neighboring side did not manage to identify the criminal.

But Corporal O. Salmenova, who showed vigilance, managed to put an end to the illegal travels of a citizen.

Olessya’s high professionalism was also recognized by her Russian colleagues. At the border representative meeting, the Head of the FSB Border Directorate for the Orenburg Region congratulated the Head of the Zhaisan checkpoint, Major Yerlan Nassynov, on the successful arrest of the elusive intruder and gave Olessya a valuable gift.

***

In 2019, intuition, experience and attentiveness again helped to distinguish herself in the service of the controller O. Salmenova. She managed to identify the offender, whose passport was genuine, and the photograph did not differ from the bearer. And this is aerobatics!

On that day, at about 20 pm at the Zhaisan automobile checkpoint, a young man named Nurbek approached the passport office at which Olessya was sitting. He smiled sweetly and naturally answered all her questions.

- Where are you going? - asked the controller.

- To the salt lakes of Sol-Iletsk. I want to spend a few days with a girl there, ”the guy replied.

Salmenova, glancing into Nurbek’s passport, determined with a trained eye that the photograph on the document did not correspond to the bearer.

Before her there stood a young man with an open, kind gaze. And from the photograph in the document, the young man looked at her, like two drops similar to him, but his eyes were different, serious, even a little prickly

Corporal O. Salmenova reported her suspicions to the senior of the shift.

A long conversation of the officer during the filtration measures did not give any result. The young man claimed that the document belonged to him.

The controller decided to get to the bottom of the truth herself.

Having scored the passport data into the system, she found out that the guy has a twin brother named Aibek, who is not allowed to leave the country due to civil proceedings.

This fact explained a lot. However, the young man stubbornly stood his ground. Then the controller called the driver of the car for a conversation, in which the detainee arrived at the checkpoint as a passenger.

At first, the taxi driver also fiercely argued that the young man’s name was Nurbek and the border guards were wrong. But, after one question clearly asked by Olesya, the driver gave up (I would not want to go into all the details of the conversation, since this will reveal the professional secrets of the controllers).

As a result, Nurbek admitted that he had used his brother’s passport and in fact his name was Aibek.

***

But all this happened much later.

And in September 2018, when the border guards finished carrying out passport control, the night silence was broken by a shrill whistle and the passenger train, which had been at the platform for a good hour, finally started slowly. Wheels tapped him, and numerous carriages, swaying from side to side, carried their passengers to the distant Tajik city of Andijan.

A border guard was walking along the platform. They were servicemen of the Zhaisan railway checkpoint. Excellent bearing, confident gait, ironed and well-seated borderline form sharply distinguished them from the woman walking next to them, removed from the train. Her gaze was lost and sad.

She took a deep breath, then looked back for the last time at the departing train, which was supposed to take her to her native land, and, submitting to fate, under the escort of border guards entered the headquarters building.

Among the controllers, her dejected appearance did not evoke compassion in any way. The woman was a violator of the state border. And with such citizens, the border guards are always strict and principled.

The train passenger was on the federal wanted list for financial scams. Until that day, she managed to avoid criminal punishment, and the forgery of the document gave her the opportunity to fly freely to different countries.

But this time the fortune turned away from her…
