Defence and Protection of the State Border

The defence of the State Border consists in providing the national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the border space and is carried out by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and authorized bodies by taking political, legal, organizational, economic, border, military and other measures within their competence.

Citizens and organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan may take part in the protection of the State Border.

In order to protect the State Border, the following regimes are introduced within the border space:

       1) the regime of the State Border;

       2) the regime at checkpoints;

       3) the border regime;

       4) the regime of territorial waters (sea) and internal waters;

       5) the regime of the continental shelf.

The protection of the State Border as an integral part of the defence of the State Border consists in the implementation by the authorized bodies of a set of measures to prevent changes in the passage of the State Border, as well as to identify and suppress the prerequisites, signs and facts of violations of the State Border regime and the regime at checkpoints.

Details

 The protection of the State Border on land, in territorial waters (sea) and internal waters (including in the underwater environment) is carried out by the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The protection of the State Border in the airspace is carried out by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall attract the forces and means of authorized bodies, organizations and citizens to carry out measures to protect the State Border in accordance with the present Law, other normative legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Measures to protect the State Border are made on the basis of the categorization of its sections.
