On February 10, 2026, during an expanded government meeting, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced directives regarding tax reforms.
According to the President, the new fiscal policy must become balanced and focus on sustainable economic development and the growing welfare of citizens.
"The Tax Code, which came into effect this year, is designed to create incentives for increasing transparency and discipline within the economy. We are already seeing the first positive results. According to the Ministry of Economy, the launch of the new tax regime for the self-employed alone has brought more than 180,000 new taxpayers into the legal field. The government estimates that as a result of the tax reform, an additional 4.4 trillion tenge will be contributed to this year's budget," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
At the same time, the Head of State emphasized that the target indicators must not be achieved through unjustified tax pressure or unreasonable burdens on businesses.
"I believe that significant potential for replenishing the budget lies in effective tax administration. Therefore, it is necessary to urgently ensure the total digitalization of the tax system," added Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
