In connection with the entry into force on January 1, 2022 of the seventh edition of the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, amendments have been made to the Customs Code of Foreign Economic Activity and the EAEU ETT.
The publication of the HS 2022 is the result of another five-year cycle of comprehensive revision of the nomenclature conducted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) on an ongoing basis. According to the WCO, the changes are primarily related to changes in production technologies. New goods are appearing, and the turnover of these goods is growing, they are becoming increasingly important on the world market. Other goods, on the contrary, lose their relevance and, accordingly, their turnover decreases. The very structure of trade is changing. Trade in unfinished goods, and intermediate goods, which are used as semi-finished products in many other industries, is becoming increasingly important. And in order for the GS to remain relevant to these realities all the time, and appropriate changes are being made.
The Eurasian Economic Commission, in turn, continues to work on bringing the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity and the Common Customs Tariff of the Eurasian Economic Union in line with the international framework.
Since 01.01.2022, new editions of the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Single Customs Tariff of the Eurasian Economic Union, approved by the Decision of the EEC Council No. 80, have entered into force.
In addition, since 02.01.2022, a number of Decisions of the EEC have entered into force, which change the codes and (or) import duty rates for certain types of goods, for example, such as: timber, fruit processing products, cotton fabrics made of yarn of various colors, individual products used for animal feeding, synthetic fibers from meta-aramids and others.
