The main objective was to improve the qualifications of government agency specialists responsible for providing statistical data on Kazakhstan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) in accordance with the standards of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The seminar, held on June 4, 2025, in Astana as part of the implementation of the “OECD and KazAID Roadmap for the Development of the ODA System in Kazakhstan” project, brought together over 30 representatives from Kazakhstan’s government agencies and analytical institutions, including the Institute of Economic Research and others. OECD experts served as speakers at the seminar to share experience in organizing and providing the methodology for accounting for Official Development Assistance (ODA).
The seminar resulted in a significant strengthening of the institutional capacity of representatives from Kazakhstan’s government agencies and relevant organizations. The application of advanced accounting standards allowed for a more accurate identification of aid flows, leading to a 55% increase in Kazakhstan’s ODA volumes by the end of 2024. Implementing the knowledge gained will not only ensure the transparency of national statistics but also substantially enhance the country’s credibility with the international donor community.
