Implementation of the “Dostyk: Diplomacy” program
The purpose of the program was to strengthen interstate dialogue and form stable professional ties between the foreign ministries of the region through discussion on relevant issues of water diplomacy.
The event took place on May 27-28, 2025 in Astana in partnership with the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The platform brought together 11 diplomats from the Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. A key feature of the program was its practical focus. In addition to theoretical sessions, delegates visited the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, where they studied real cases to mitigate the environmental crisis. The Agency provided full support to the participants, creating comfortable conditions for the exchange of experience and networking. The result of the seminar was not just professional development (as noted by 88.9% of participants), but the formation of a shared vision and joint problem-solving approaches among diplomats from Central Asian countries on complex issues of transboundary water use, which lays the foundation for future constructive negotiations in the region. Following the official program, in order to get acquainted with the local culture and sights, a cultural program was held for the participants in Astana, including a visit to the Baiterek monument, the Republican Main Mosque and EXPO 2017.
