Transport infrastructure

The total length of highways of regional and district significance in the Karaganda region is 5,965.3 km ( 3443 km and 2522.3 km), of which 709.5 km are with asphalt concrete pavement, 2272.3 km with black gravel pavement and gravel and gravel - 2971.6 km, dirt roads - 31 km.

There are 124 bridges (6,838.1 meters) and 3,439 water pipes (51,572.4 meters) on motor roads.

In the transport sector, some work was done last year, which was mainly aimed at recovering the industry from the negative consequences of the pandemic.

As a result, according to the results of the last year, a positive dynamics in the volume of transport services by 3.8% was ensured.

In general, today 216 regular bus services are organized in the region, including 7 international, 7 interregional, 58 interdistrict, 103 intracity, 30 suburban and 11 intradistrict communications.

The routes cover 154 rural settlements out of 338, with a population of over 100 people or 46%.

Last year, traffic was restored on 11 socially significant inter-district (intercity intra-regional) routes that were closed in 2020 due to the pandemic. Particular attention was paid to the prospective development of urban bus transportation.

Akimat of the city of Karaganda together with the Transport holding of Almaty since December 1 last year launched the system of electronic ticketing "Onay" on the intracity routes of the regional center. This is a significant step in improving the quality of passenger transportation services.

At the moment, about 170,000 trips are made daily in a non-cash way through electronic ticketing, which is 60% of the total traffic volume. In order to further increase non-cash trips, ensure transparency in the circulation of funds and encourage the population to switch to electronic payment cards, it is planned to introduce a differentiated tariff.

Also, measures were taken to upgrade the rolling stock. In the regional center, the Taxocombinat and Reis enterprises purchased 40 new Yutong brand medium-capacity buses from the QazTehna plant under the preferential lending program of the Industry Development Fund.

In addition, at the end of last year, under this state support mechanism, Tranco Express purchased 20 new buses of a similar brand, which, according to the results of competitive procedures, are already involved in the intracity routes of Zhezkazgan.

Also in Temirtau, TTS LLP purchased 20 new Dongfeng buses from the domestic automaker SemAZ.

It should be noted that all of the above buses are adapted for the transport of people with disabilities.

In addition, at the beginning of this year, Bus Depot No. 3 replaced part of the outdated rolling stock on intercity routes with newer German-made buses in the amount of 10 units. Buses are used on routes connecting Karaganda with satellite cities.

In the field of road transport infrastructure, the Akimat of the city of Shakhtinsk carried out a major overhaul of the bus station in the city of Shakhtinsk in maximum compliance with the National Standard, which made it possible to create favorable conditions for passengers.

In the field of railway transport, the Department organized the transportation of passengers along 9 socially significant intra-regional railway communications. Of these, 4 passenger trains and 5 electric trains.

Since the beginning of 2021, according to numerous requests from the population of the Zhezkazgan region, the frequency of running the Karaganda-Zhezkazgan railway connection No. 609/610 has been increased to a daily basis. This made it possible to completely solve the issue of stable transport communication between this region and the regional center.

As far as civil aviation is concerned.

Flights were organized on the intra-regional air communication Karaganda-Zhezkazgan. From January 11, 2022, according to the new competitive obligations of the Qazaq Air airline, air flights are operated on a daily basis while maintaining the previous fare of 10,000 tenge for the ticket price. Transportation is carried out on a modern Canadian aircraft Bombardier Q-400 with a capacity of 86 seats.

In general, with the arrival of the Qazaq Air airline on the Karaganda-Zhezkazgan route since 2021, the number of passengers carried annually has been increased by more than 5.5 times from 4 to 23 thousand people.

In addition, our region is served by 10 air routes, of which 1 is international - Karaganda-Moscow and 8 interregional flights. These are directions from Karaganda to Almaty (FlyArystan, A-320), Ust-Kamenogorsk (Southern Sky, An-24), Kyzylorda (Southern Sky, An-24), Turkestan (Scat, CRJ-200) and also from the cities of Zhezkazgan ( Qazaq Air, Q-400) and Balkhash (Southern Sky, An-24) in the direction of Almaty and Nur-Sultan.

There are 5 airlines operating in the region, including 4 Kazakh (FlyArystan, Scat, QazaqAir, Southern Sky) and 1 Russian (Aeroflot).

A promising direction in the civil aviation industry is the development of the infrastructure of local airlines.

The national project "Strong regions - the driver of the country's development" provides for the construction of two airfields in the Ulytau and Karkaralinsky districts until 2025. In order to implement the national project, the Department has developed a feasibility study for the construction of airfields in the Karkaralinsky and Ulytau regions, which is at the stage of state expertise. This year, it is planned to develop design and estimate documentation with the further construction of airfields.

A priority direction in the Karaganda region is to increase the network of paved roads, which provides a reliable connection between the districts and the regional center. 79.9 billion tenge was allocated for road repair work in 2021, due to which 1,606 km of roads were covered by repair work. As a result, the share of local roads that are in standard condition amounted to 85%.

In 2022, 56.4 billion tenge was allocated for road repair work, it is planned to repair about 1,300 km of roads, bringing the share of local roads that are in standard condition to 86%.
