On June 14-18, 2021, in Almaty, Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of the US Department of Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Program «Global Nuclear Security», a training course «Insider Threat Mitigation, Prevention, Detection» was organized and conducted.
The training course was held in the Nuclear Security Training Center of the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Representatives of the nuclear industry organizations took part in the training. The training was conducted by instructors and experts from the USA, Great Britain and Estonia in the online format.
In the frames of the course program participants familiarized with issues of protection measures, prevention and reduction of the threat of an internal insider, improving the productivity of human resources, understanding the importance of programs to improve the reliability of personnel. During the course, various cases from practice are considered, practical exercises were conducted to analyze and evaluate the actions of personnel, the consequences and conclusions were assessed for each case.
The training course gave the participants an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the threat of an insider, the risks associated with him, the need for measures to improve protection.
