As part of the modernization of the criminal process, a draft law has been developed aimed at increasing the level of protection of citizens in criminal proceedings.
The amendments presented at the meetings of the interdepartmental working group on modernizing the criminal process were supported by all state bodies.
At the same time, the main priorities are: increasing the level of protection of citizens in the criminal process and reducing its repression; increasing the competitiveness of the criminal process, primarily by expanding the procedural capabilities of lawyers; further expanding judicial control at the pre-trial stage; simplifying criminal investigation procedures and ensuring the cost-effectiveness of the criminal process.
The proposed measures will strengthen law enforcement mechanisms in criminal proceedings, increase the requirements for employees of the Prosecutor's office and investigation bodies in criminal proceedings, as well as objectively consider the appeals of citizens and defenders for each claim to the complaint.
These measures will allow employees of the Prosecutor's office and investigation bodies to be more transparent when dealing with citizens to protect their rights and legitimate interests, which leads to a more accurate and objective understanding of the issue and the case.
