LLP «Fisheries Research and Production Center» (founded in 1929) is the only specialized scientific institute of fisheries in Kazakhstan, covering all areas of fisheries and operating throughout the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has 6 regional branches (Atyrau, Altai, Aral, Balkhash, Northern and West Kazakhstan) and the head office is located in Almaty.
The objects of the study are the entire spectrum and factors of the habitat (hydrology, hydrochemistry, food supply) and directly aquatic animals (fish, seals, artemia, etc. hydrobionts).
Based on many years of research, the Scientific and Production Center of Fisheries assessed the potential of commercial fish production in each region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account the expansion of existing fish farms in the regions and the organization of new fish farms. The prospects for the introduction of the latest technologies in the agricultural sector, the introduction of super-intensive fish farms based on ultrasonic and high-tech cage farms, the introduction of new cultivation facilities were evaluated.
A large amount of work is being carried out in such areas as:
Scientific support of fisheries management on fixed reservoirs;
Certification of fishery reservoirs and identification of promising reservoirs for fisheries (commercial fish farming, fishing, artemia extraction);
Development of fish-breeding and biological justifications for the creation of fish farms of various types;
Development of biological justifications for acclimatization and stocking;
Development of biological justifications for the calculation of damage to fisheries from economic activities and recommendations for its reduction;
