On June 4, 2018 an auction was held for the entire territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the selection of biogas plant projects with a total capacity of 5 MW.
3 applications from 3 companies, the unit capacity of projects from 2.4 to 5 MW were received. The total volume of applications is 10.9 MW. The starting price for the auction was 32.23 tg / kW * h. During the 3-hour session the proposed tariff range was from 32.15 tg / kW * h to 32.20 tg / kW * h.
The auction was recognized as having taken place, because more than 3 participants and more than 150% of the purchased capacity were represented, according to the Rules of organization and holding of auction bidding for the selection of renewable energy projects.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the non-governmental sector and international organizations participated in the auction as observers. Observers note full transparency of the electronic auction system of the organizer of the auction - JSC “KOREM”.
Following the results of electronic bidding the winner is determined by the following participant:
1. LLP "KAZ GREEN ENERGY" for 5 MW with the price of 32.15 tg / kW * h.
The next auction is scheduled for 5/06/2018.

From 23 May to 7 June and from 3 to 18 October of this year it is planned to conduct the first international auction bidding on the selection of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan.
Auctions being one of the stages of the planned development of renewable energy sources are aimed at selecting the most effective projects and forming market competitive prices for electric energy produced by renewable energy sources.
According to the Rules of Organization and Conducting Auction Trades (Order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 466 of December 21, 2013), the Ministry has established the Schedule of Auction Trades.
This year it is planned to conduct auction trades in the amount of 1,000 MW of installed capacity, broken down by types of power plants according to the auction trades Graphic approved by the Ministry:
- solar power plants - 290 MW;
- Wind power stations - 620 MW;
- hydroelectric power stations - 75 MW;
- Bio ES - 15 MW.
