On June 5, 2018 the eighth auction for the South Zone for the selection of wind power projects with a total capacity of 10 MW took place.
3 applications from 3 companies, a single capacity of projects from 4.95 to 10 MW were received. The total volume of applications is 19.95 MW. The starting price for the auction was 22.68 tg / kW * h. During the 3-hour session, the proposed tariff range was from 22.67 tg / kWh to 22.65 tg / kWh.
The auction was recognized as having taken place, because at least 3 participants and more than 150% of the purchased capacity were represented in accordance with the Rules for the organization and conduct of auction bidding for the selection of renewable energy projects.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the non-governmental sector and international organizations participated in the auction as observers. Observers note full transparency of the electronic trading system of the organizer of the auction - JSC “KOREM”.
Following the results of electronic bidding, the winners are determined by the following participants:
1. LLP "Alcor Energy" for 4.95 MW with the price of 22.65 tg / kW * h
2. LLP "Vostok Veter" for 10 MW with the price of 22.66 KZT / kW * h
The next auction is scheduled for 06/06/2018.

From 23 May to 7 June and from 3 to 18 October this year it is planned to conduct the first international auction bidding on the selection of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan.
Auction trades being one of the stages of the planned development of renewable energy sources are aimed at selecting the most effective projects and forming market competitive prices for electric energy produced by renewable energy sources.
According to the Rules of Organization and Holding of Auction Trades (Order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 466 of December 21, 2013), the Ministry has established the Auction Trade Schedule.
According to the auction schedule approved by the Ministry this year it is planned to conduct auction trades in the amount of 1,000 MW of installed capacity, broken down by types of power plants:
- solar power plants - 290 MW;
- wind power stations - 620 MW;
- hydroelectric power stations - 75 MW;
- Bio ES - 15 MW.
