On June 21, 2018, as a part of the preparations for the introduction of the electric power market since 2019, imitation tenders for the right of participation of energy producing organizations of the Northern Zone of the unified electricity system of Kazakhstan (UES) at the trades for the Southern Zone of the UES in the capacity of the transit capacity of North-South were conducted. This work is aimed at a large-scale explanation to the participants of the forthcoming functioning of the electric power market and testing of the software product of “KOREM” JSC.
Simulated trading for the right to participate in bidding for the South Zone was conducted with the following initial parameters:
- the declared prices did not exceed the price of partially realized / unrealized volumes in the "northern zone";
- the purchased capacity at the auction - 1200 MW;
- the delivery period is from 01/01/2019 to 31/12/2019.
At the time of simulated trading by the capacity of energy producing organizations, 5 applications were submitted for the sale of services for maintaining the readiness of electric power, with a total volume of 2626 MW.
As a result of the trading session, the Single Purchaser concluded 3 transactions, with a total volume of 1,200 MW, and the realized volume was 1,426 MW. The weighted average price for the Northern Zone of the UES was 590 thousand t / MW.
Participants who, following the results of imitation trades on the throughput capacity of the North-South transit, were entitled to participate in trading for the Southern Zone, should not submit prices exceeding those for the Northern Zone of the UES.
