Receipt of raw materials for the new RFCC catalytic cracking unit at Shymkent Refinery

July 2, 2018, Shymkent.

On the eve of the 20th anniversary of Astana, “PetroKazakhstan Oil Products” LLP-Shymkent Oil Refinery took raw materials for a new RFCC catalytic cracker. From this moment the final stage of commissioning works begins - complex testing of technological installations within the framework of the strategic project "Modernization and reconstruction of the Shymkent oil refinery".

Before the reception of raw materials, a lot of preparatory work was done:

− commissioning works at the facilities of the general factory - water treatment plant, compressed air instrumentation, nitrogen production, steam production are completed, etc..;

− individual tests were completed on the process units, receiving energy resources, drying the reactor-regenerator and reactor blocks and after a thorough check of all units, units and the technological system as a whole, it was decided to take the raw materials to the main RFCC catalytic cracking unit and connect the Merox, Prime G +, Claus , PSA-2.

Installation of catalytic cracking RFCC with a capacity of 2 million tons of raw materials per year, designed and built using the technology of UOP (USA), which is the "heart" of the Complex. The unit is designed to process heavy oil residues with the production of valuable high-quality products such as liquefied gas, gasoline and light gas oil. "

In general, within the framework of the Second Stage of the Shymkent Refinery Modernization Project, the following process units were constructed:

- RFCC catalytic cracking unit;

- Merox hydrocarbon gas cleaning unit;

- gasoline hydrotreating unit Prime G +;

- sulfur production plant Claus;

- hydrogen purification plant PSA-2.

The commissioning of these units will allow to increase the depth of processing at the plant, and also the production of automotive fuels - gasoline and diesel, corresponding to the quality of ecological classes K4 and K5.

Completion of the Shymkent refinery modernization project is planned in September 2018.
