On October 10 - 11, 2018, the 4th meeting of the Interstate Environmental Council of the CIS Member States was held in Dushanbe (The Republic of Tajikistan).
In the framework of this meeting, an exchange of views took place on problematic issues, promising areas related to cooperation in the field of the environment in the CIS, as well as on further strengthening the cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of environmental protection.
During the IV meeting of the Interstate Ecological Council of the CIS Member States, the heads of environmental agencies spoke about the best practices of their countries in the field of policies for the protection of biodiversity, atmospheric air and subsoil. As part of the speech of the Vice-Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Nurlybai S., topical issues of bilateral cooperation of the CIS countries in the field of environmental protection, including the work of the Kazakhstan-Russian commission on preserving the ecosystem of the transboundary river Zhaiyk-Ural, were touched upon.
In addition, the members of the Interstate Ecological Council made decisions “On the implementation of the decisions of the III meeting and the Work Plan of the Interstate Ecological Council of the CIS Member States”, “On organizing interaction with the CIS bodies whose competence includes the consideration of individual issues in the field of ecology and environmental protection ". The report of Zholdasov Z., the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the work being carried out in the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development of the draft of the new Environmental Code” was heard.
In the framework of the practical part of the meeting of the Council, on October 11, a visit took place with a visit to the Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station, where the meeting participants familiarized themselves with the experience of the Tajik side in water management.
In accordance with the regulations of the Interstate Environmental Council of the CIS Member States, the Council decided to chair the Council, which passed from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan. The Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Ibodzoda Khairullo was elected as the Chairman of the Interstate Environmental Council of the CIS Member States.
