In the framework of the Asia-Europe Forum (ASEM) with the participation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev on October 18 of this year in Brussels, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, the EBRD and “Nomad Solar “ LLP on cooperation and support for the project “Construction of a 28 MW SES in Zhalagash district of the Kyzylorda region” at a meeting with business representatives of the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan K. Bozumbayev,
The project involves the construction of the Nomad electric power station (SES) near the Zhalagash area of the Kyzylorda region, which will add 28 MW of installed capacity for solar energy to the energy balance of Kazakhstan.
The total cost of the project is 46.7 million USD.
Under this agreement, the EBRD will provide a loan in tenge for the construction of this SES in the amount of up to US $ 35 million for a period of 13 years.
SES will be built by Total EREN SA (France) and Access Power Limited (UAE). It is expected that the implementation of this project will lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions of at least 47.8 thousand tons per year, which corresponds to the volume of emissions from the operation of about 10 MW of capacity of local coal-fired power plants (efficiency of solar power plants is less than that of coal-fired power plants).
Also, the implementation of SES will contribute to the achievement of target indicators in the field of renewable energy sources, provided by the country's strategic documents, will allow creating additional “green” jobs in the region and attracting foreign investment.
