On November 2, 2018, a trilateral memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Energy and the Korean Environmental Protection Corporation in the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan “K-eco” at the Ministry of Environment of South Korea and “Operator ROP” LLP. The purpose of this Memorandum of Cooperation is to develop long-term mutual cooperation between the parties on a wide range of environmental issues.
In his welcoming speech, Vice-Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Sabit Nurlybay noted the significance of the meeting, which is a positive indicator of friendly Kazakh-Korean relations and joint efforts in mutual cooperation in the application of "green" technologies, environmental protection and the development of waste recycling.
It is worth noting that this is a return visit of our South Korean colleagues. This year, the Kazakh delegation, led by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, took part in a major event at Global Green Hub Korea, got acquainted with the infrastructure and applied technologies in Korea, in particular, visited GooUiArisu water purification plant, HamanUnionPark for recycling solid waste household waste.
It is worth noting that South Korea has quite a wealth of experience in implementing large-scale projects in the field of environmental protection and experts have confirmed their readiness to share achievements in this area, in particular, within the framework of expanded responsibilities of producers (importers), and also to explore the potential for the development of these areas in Kazakhstan.
As part of their visit, experts from South Korea familiarized themselves with the activities of the only plant in the Central Asian region for the disposal of old cars in the Karaganda region, visited the waste recycling plant in the city of Astana, and also held a number of meetings with industry organizations.
