Raising the retirement age has been hotly discussed in the country for several years now. As part of the Concept for the Further Modernization of the Pension System, effective January 1, 2018, the retirement age for women was raised from 58 to 58.5 years. According to the Concept, in the period from 2018 to 2027, the retirement age will increase by 6 months annually, amounting to 63 years in 2027.The most important reason for raising the retirement age is the curtailment of the solidarity system and, accordingly, a decrease in the size of solidarity pensions. And as a consequence, the need for further diversification of the sources of pension payments, which is achieved by increasing the role of pension payments from the UAPF. That is, the longer a person works and transfers compulsory pension contributions to the UAPF, being a member of the funded system, the larger the amount of pension payments received from the UAPF and the size of the basic pension, which also depends on the length of time of participation in the funded system. From January 1, 2020, the retirement age for women is 59.5 years, and from January 1, 2021 it will be exactly 60 years.
