«Fire safety during the heating period»

The reason for the growth of fires in the residential sector is non-compliance with fire safety rules when using electric heaters and heating stoves. However, there are also cases of adults admitting childish pranks with fire. Remember! People themselves are responsible for their property and the actions committed by their children. Because children do not understand the danger of fire, they may be interested in the very moment of ignition of matches, lighters, sparklers, etc., they may realize the consequences after a fire. Adults also neglect simple fire safety rules, allowing smoking in bed, leaving unattended stoves and electric heaters, and forgetting about cooking food on the gas stove. All of the above omissions of adults can lead to a fire, and a fire can take with it not only property, but also human life.

Since the beginning of 2023, 466 fires have been registered in the West Kazakhstan region, out of the total number of fires, 281 cases occurred in the residential sector. In order to prevent fires and deaths during the heating period, the Department of Emergency Situations of the West Kazakhstan region conducts raid events with students of secondary schools and residents of apartment buildings to comply with fire safety rules in the residential sector.

The main purpose of the raids is to encourage the population to be conscious and prevent violations of fire safety rules. Employees of the emergency department explained to the population that it is impossible to use electrical networks with unloading and it is unacceptable to violate fire safety rules when operating power tools and gas equipment.

Safe use of gas boilers

Since the beginning of 2023, 445 fires have been registered in the West Kazakhstan region, of the total number of fires, 47 cases occurred with heating stoves. It does not matter whether the furnace is heated with wood or gas, you need to know the threat of malfunction of the furnaces. Employees of the Department of Emergency Situations are conducting preventive measures to explain fire safety rules to residents of residential buildings, but the problem remains.Residents of private residential buildings and apartments, as well as heads of organizations should remember that non-compliance with fire safety requirements in residential buildings and other buildings can lead to death and loss of property.It is necessary to know the rules for using heating stoves:1. inform the gas service by the number "104" about the malfunction;2. in order not to be poisoned by carbon monoxide, ventilate the room;3. turn off the gas supply to the heating boiler;4. it is forbidden to supply fuel (gas) with extinguished nozzles or gas burners;5. Clean pipes and furnaces from soot and ice;6. do not allow cracks and chips in the chimneys of stone stoves;7. before the start of the heating period, repair the furnace and the wall where the smoke duct is located;8. do not leave unattended burning stoves, as well as instruct children to supervise them;9. put fuel and other combustible substances and materials in front of the heating furnace;10. it is impossible to ignite the furnace with gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel and other LVZH and GZH;11. do not close the valve of the smoke channel until the coals burn out completely;12. Stoves and other heating devices must have fire-fighting cuts (indentations) from combustible structures, as well as without burnouts, and damage to a pre-heating metal sheet with a size of at least 0.5 m x 0.7 m. (on a wooden or other floor made of combustible materials);13. Ash and slag from the furnaces must be watered and removed to a safe place.14. it is impossible to work with faulty or disconnected control and regulation devices, as well as in their absence;15. dry any combustible materials on stoves and chimneys;16. use ventilation and gas ducts as chimneys;17. re-pump the furnaces.18. installation of metal furnaces that do not meet the requirements of fire safety, standards and specifications is not allowed;19. metal furnaces should be installed at a distance of at least 1 m. from wooden structures and furniture, at least 0.7 m. from structures protected from fire, and 1.25 m. from furnace openings to wooden structures and furniture.20. combustible floors under furnaces should be insulated with one row of bricks laid flat on clay mortar or asbestos cardboard 0.012 m thick. with roofing steel sheathing on top;21. in attics, all chimneys and walls in which smoke channels pass must be whitewashed.  Departments of the State Fire control of the Emergency Department of the West Kazakhstan Region

Fire safety measures on motor vehicles

Since the beginning of this year, 445 fires have been registered on the territory of the West Kazakhstan region, of which 100 cases are on vehicles, compared to 2022 - 83 cases, an increase of 20.4% is observed.

            A fire in transport can occur unexpectedly and lead to serious consequences. During the technical inspection of the vehicle, the general condition of the vehicle is checked, but the electrical equipment and fuel system are not checked. However, the main causes of a fire on motor vehicles are: a short circuit of the electrical wiring / electrical units of the engine, careless handling of fire when heating the engine with a blowtorch, smoking, insulation of the engine compartment with a nightmare, a break or malfunction of the fuel line.

            In order to avoid severe consequences of a fire, each vehicle must have a serviceable fire extinguisher with a volume of at least 2 liters. It is necessary to know the device of a fire extinguisher and be able to use it. Keep vehicles in good condition, do not allow batteries to be recharged directly on vehicles.

            If the car catches fire while driving, observe the following rules of behavior in the car in case of fire:

- Stop the car;

- Turn off the engine;

-Release the hood lock, do not open the hood without having primary fire extinguishing means in your hands;

- Get all the passengers out;

- Call the fire service at the phone number "101", or the rescue service "112";

Try to use the fire extinguisher available in the car if it is not dangerous;

Do not use water when extinguishing a fire in the engine compartment, this may cause a short circuit of the electrical wiring, the spread of burning gasoline and an increase in the burning area.Gorenje

            Dear car owners, do not forget that it is easier to prevent a fire than to extinguish it!

Dacha fire: 5 main causes of fire

Since the beginning of 2023, 432 cases of fire have been registered in the West Kazakhstan region, out of the total number of fires, 8 cases fall on dacha societies. In this regard, raid measures and detours of suburban areas are carried out, with an explanation of fire safety rules to residents of the region.

            A fire in the country is not a pleasant event, the flame mercilessly destroys gardens, outbuildings and country houses. The fire can spread to the neighboring suburban area and cause damage to other people. It is not difficult to understand how the fire occurred, the causes of the fire can be listed on your fingers. This enumeration will help someone to understand and eliminate their mistakes and will be a reminder of the rules of fire safety.

  1. Unkempt site

Often, summer residents engaged in gardening, forget about the territory near the house overgrown with grass, which no one cares about. When the grass dries up, a cigarette butt thrown into it or childish pranks with matches can cause a fire. There is no need to remind how quickly a well-dried grass burns.

  1. Storage of junk

Storage of old boards, beams, broken fences and other wooden junk is a fairly common cause of fires, especially if there is dry grass on the site. It is advisable to store wooden building materials on a concreted site or in a detached shed.

  1. Barbecue under a tree

A barbecue located under a tree is a typical picture for a suburban area. It is not very hot to cook in the shade of a tree, but with frequent use of the barbecue and in extreme heat in summer, this can lead to a fire. To avoid such a terrible event, the grill must have a roof that will not allow the high temperature of the grill to ignite dry branches.

  1. Faulty wiring

Very often, summer residents conduct electricity to all buildings on the site - a shed, a toilet, etc. This is done in the simplest way - by stretching the carrying from the cottage to the next object. And since no one is engaged in regular checking of such wiring, someday a short circuit will occur in the carrier, which will lead to a fire.

  1. An unattended campfire

A common cause of a fire in the country is an unattended bonfire. This happens when a summer resident decided to leave for a minute, and at this time a sharp gust of wind throws the heat from the flame to neighboring combustible objects. Such carelessness, a person discovers when he returns to the fire, it can be a blazing barn - well, if only his own, but it can also be a neighbor's. It is especially important to remember about the risks of fire in suburban areas adjacent to the forest, since fire can suddenly form from there. A plowed strip of land about 4-5 meters wide, which can separate the cottage from the forest plantations, can contain the fire. It will not be superfluous to keep a fire extinguisher in your hallway, because there is not much fire safety.

Compliance with fire safety measures on motor vehicles

Since the beginning of this year, 419 fires have been registered on the territory of the West Kazakhstan region, 94 of them were on vehicles, compared to 2022-78 cases by 20.5%.

            A fire in a car can occur unexpectedly and lead to serious consequences. During the mandatory technical inspection of the vehicle, the condition of the vehicle is monitored, the electrical equipment and fuel system are not checked. However, the main causes of a fire in a car are: short circuit of electrical wiring / electrical units, careless work with fire when the engine is heated by a supercharger lamp, smoking, nightmarish insulation of the engine compartment, breakage or failure of the fuel line.

            In order to avoid such serious consequences of a fire, each vehicle must have a serviceable fire extinguisher with a volume of at least 2 liters. In this case, you should know the device of the fire extinguisher and be able to use it. Maintaining the vehicle in good condition, preventing overcharging of batteries directly on vehicles.

            If your car catches fire while driving, follow the following rules of behavior in the car during a fire:

            - Stop the car;

            - Turn off the engine;

            - Release the hood lock without removing the first fire extinguishing means do not open the hood;

            - Withdraw all passengers;

            - Call the fire service by phone number "101" or the Rescue Service " 112;

            If it's not dangerous, try using a fire extinguisher that is in the car;

            Do not use water when extinguishing a fire in the engine compartment may cause a short circuit or the spread of burning gasoline and increase gorenje area.

Ensuring fire safety of baths and saunas

For frequent causes of fires in baths are: violation of fire safety rules, violation of the rules of operation of furnace equipment, careless handling of fire, violation of the rules of operation of electrical equipment.

               When operating a bathhouse, fireplace, stove – it is necessary to strictly observe the rules of fire safety.

What fire safety requirements should be remembered when operating baths and saunas?

               If a thin-walled metal furnace is installed on a wooden floor without a special foundation, an asbestos sheet and a sheet of thin metal are necessarily placed under it. It is possible to manufacture a small brick podium. Thereby protecting the floors from accidental loss of firewood or coals. Any metal heater should be installed no closer than 20 centimeters from the wall. To protect the wooden lining of the wall (lining), use special heat-reflecting screens. They are installed with a small gap from the wall or ceiling.

               When operating a brick kiln, it is necessary to regularly monitor its condition. Cracks, chips, falling bricks from the furnace or chimney should not be allowed. If this happens, then you should not postpone the repair of the furnace.

               Often the cause of a fire is damaged or incorrectly made electrical wiring, especially if you have an electric sauna stove. Competent and correct installation of electrical wiring is mandatory. The cross section of the wire must correspond to the declared power of the stove. The brand of the wire must correspond to the high temperature regime. The control of the electric furnace should be installed outside the steam room, in the area of dry rooms. The temperature in the sauna should be maintained automatically and should not exceed 110 degrees. If the automation is faulty, it is necessary to immediately eliminate the breakdown, because your safety depends on the correct operation of the thermostat and other components.

               The power of the "electric heater" must be chosen based on the size of the steam room. An improperly equipped stove in a bathhouse often causes a fire. Installation and installation of furnace equipment must be carried out by specialists!

               Quite often, a fire in a bath occurs due to an incorrect chimney. It happens that there is a fire of soot in the chimney. In this case, the flame can damage the roof or spread to the roof, in order to avoid this, it is necessary to monitor the cleanliness and serviceability of the chimney, to clean the blockages in it in a timely manner. It is worth remembering that wood can easily ignite at temperatures above 280-300 degrees. In this regard, the fire safety of the bath provides for the impregnation of wooden structures with special flame retardants. It is necessary to remember about the good ventilation of the bath.

               In no case should gasoline or other similar liquids be used to ignite the furnace. For this purpose, there is nothing better than an ordinary newspaper and dry birch firewood with birch bark.

               There are cases when people simply forget that the bath is heated. Uncontrolled abandonment of a heating furnace can also lead to a fire. The above points are the immediate fire safety of a bath or sauna. But do not forget the elementary "things": you can not drink alcohol in the bath, smoke, dry clothes over the stove, leave the bath unattended.

               Compliance with all these rules will help protect your bath from fire.

Safety when harvesting coarse feed

During the hay harvesting and harvesting of coarse feed, observe the fire safety rules!            To date, agricultural work on hay harvesting and harvesting of coarse fodder is in full swing. Hot, dry and windy weather during the work, a large number of agricultural machinery and fuels and lubricants create a fire-hazardous situation.            A fire may arise from a violation of the established rules for refueling forage harvesting equipment, tractors, cars and self-propelled chassis. Spilled oil, gasoline, kerosene and other flammable and combustible liquids pose a serious danger. The causes of a fire in the field and in the haylofts may be sparks in the ignition system, from the exhaust pipes of agricultural units, in the absence of serviceable spark arresters on them, friction of the straw mass accumulated in the nodes of the units.            In order to avoid the occurrence of fires and prevent the destruction of material values, it is necessary to observe the basic rules.            Storage of haylofts on farmsteads, territories of residential buildings is carried out at a distance of at least 15 meters to buildings and outbuildings.Prohibited:1) storage on the roofs of sheds and other outbuildings;2) storage under power lines;3) storage at a distance of less than three meters from the outer fence of the site;4) place haystacks, piles, hay stacks, straw, and other types of coarse fodder on the streets, roads, and out of homesteads.            Transportation of coarse feed is carried out on specially equipped vehicles, the exhaust pipes of which are removed under the radiator and equipped with spark extinguishers, also equipped with two powder fire extinguishers.            The height of storage of coarse feed should be no more than four meters.

Dear citizens! Do not allow rash actions when handling fire! If you become an eyewitness to a fire or a fire, immediately inform the fire service – "101", "112".

Occurrence and spread of steppe fires

Man has faced steppe fires for centuries, but this phenomenon became a truly serious problem only in the XX century, when the ecosystem of the steppes practically lost the ability to self-regulate. Human actions have led to the fact that there are almost no large ungulates left in the steppes, which eat plants and trample paths that are a natural obstacle to fire. Grasses growing in the steppes have a high degree of ignition. The resulting fire can instantly spread to other plants, covering large areas. In an open area, fairly strong surface winds prevail, so the speed of fire propagation can reach 10 meters per second. During a steppe fire, the vegetation layer burns out completely, usually the empty soil is overgrown with wormwood and other weeds. The risk of a steppe fire is especially high in August and September. In addition to this time, field fires often occur in late spring, when last year's grass, which was under the snow in winter, begins to dry out. The cause of fires is most often the annealing of grass, which is out of human control.

Negative consequences

Steppe fires have serious economic and environmental consequences. Fire can arise in the field and destroy crops grown with great difficulty. The fire spreads quickly, and many small animals or steppe birds cannot escape from the toxic combustion products that are formed during the fire. Gorenje In addition, the smoke from the fire heavily pollutes the atmosphere. Some owners of pasture lands deliberately burn grass, trying to improve the quality of grass growing on this territory. Such actions only lead to the weakening of the ecosystem. After a steppe fire, grasses do not protect the soil from erosion, besides, the fire destroys the steppe felt that covers the land, which leads to desertification. Special services can easily localize a steppe fire, but due to the rapid spread of fire, a fire can be a real threat to forests, residential buildings or industrial buildings that are nearby. Most often, mineralized barriers are created to fight fire, through which its spread is impossible. During a steppe fire, tornadoes sometimes occur due to temperature differences, which can throw fire through mineralized bands and other obstacles. It is dangerous to be close to the steppe fire zone, because in addition to fire, carbon monoxide is a danger.

Children are not looking for danger – they are just playing

Young children do not have sufficient knowledge and skills to ensure safety when handling fire and are not able to foresee the dangerous consequences of their actions, and often children become victims and perpetrators of accidents. Civil protection officers face the task of changing people's consciousness and attitude to safety, and children's age is the most favorable for mastering the rules of action in case of emergency.

In this regard, to teach children the rules of fire safety in the region, employees of structural and territorial divisions of the Department of Emergency Situations of the West Kazakhstan region, together with the Regional Department of Education, conduct briefings, lectures and interactive classes with students on the skills of protecting their lives.

Explain to children the rules of fire safety at home, except for school. If a fire or signs of burning (smoke, elevated temperature, burning smell, etc.) are detected, a child of any age must immediately leave the room, along with this, as they say gorenje.: "Forbidden fruit is sweet!", therefore it is more useful to explain to the child once again about the danger lurking in a box of matches, a lighter, than to simply say: "It is impossible!"

It is very important that children remember these tips. By personal example, teach children to comply with fire safety rules. Only by taking great care of our children will we be able to prevent fires from children's pranks with fire, save our home, property and the most precious thing – the life of a child.

What you need to do in order to avoid a fire from a child's prank with fire:

- tell children about fire-safe behavior;

- be an example in all situations related to compliance with fire safety rules;

- place the matches out of the reach of children;

- do not instruct children to light stoves, gas stoves, turn on household appliances on their own;

- make sure that children do not light fires;

- do not leave children unattended by adults;

- organize an interesting leisure time for your child.
