Furnace heating has always created and creates a lot of problems for the population, especially in rural areas, where almost every house has a furnace – an object of increased fire danger. And with the onset of the autumn-winter period, the problem worsens, as fires often end in injuries and loss of life. The cause of fires is a violation of the rules of the furnace device – for example, insufficient distance between the chimney of the furnace and the wooden structures of the floors of the house.
The next problem is the violation of fire safety rules during the operation of furnace heating. Any furnace should have an independent foundation and not adjoin the entire plane of one of the walls to wooden structures. It is necessary to leave an air gap between them, or a so-called indentation. The masonry of the furnace should be without cracks and crevices, and there should be a good draft in the chimney. During the heating season, chimneys must be cleaned of soot at least once every 2 months.
Before the start of the heating season, each furnace, as well as the wall smoke ducts within the premises, and especially the chimneys in the attic, must be whitewashed with lime mortar. On the wooden floor before the furnace, it is necessary to nail a metal pre-heating sheet with dimensions of at least 50x70 cm. On logs, the fire can come out and spread to the nearest objects, the floor and walls. In any case, do not leave the furnace doors open when heating furnaces. It is extremely dangerous to leave burning stoves unattended or in the care of young children. It is not allowed to set up such gathering places closer than 15 meters from the burned buildings.
PROHIBITED: Installation of horizontal smoke hogs in attic rooms, as well as holes for cleaning smoke channels. Use silicate bricks for laying furnaces and chimneys. Use ceramic, asbestos cement and metal pipes for furnace chimneys. If the chimney is made by using these structures, then this chimney pipe must be overlaid with clay bricks within the attic space and bring the brickwork above the roof covering by 5-7 crowns.
Compliance with these rules will protect your life during the heating season, and you can safely enjoy the warmth of the hearth on a cold winter evening.
