According to the press service of the Department of Emergency Situations (DFS), today in Atyrau at the railway station, exercises were held to practice skills of actions during the elimination of emergency situations associated with the leakage of dangerous goods during transportation by rail.
The purpose of the exercises is to improve the measures of rapid response to emergency situations, tactical interaction of forces and means of civil protection services, including: the railway transport service, professional emergency rescue services and urban civil protection services, formations "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy".
According to the plan of the exercises, during the rescue and emergency work, an algorithm of actions was worked out to eliminate an accident on railway transport with a leak of a highly toxic substance, namely sulfuric acid. So, according to the conditions of the exercises, during the rigid docking of freight cars, the tank with sulfuric acid was depressurized. A nearby railway worker was poisoned and lost consciousness. Further, according to the approved algorithm of actions, an alert was made, reconnaissance, cordon, evacuation of the victim, localization and elimination of the consequences of an emergency (emergency) were carried out. Following the results of the exercises, an analysis of the actions was carried out, the existing shortcomings and positive aspects were identified.
As noted in the information provided, the forces and means of the emergency department, the railway station, the department of sanitary and epidemic control on transport, the linear police department, the branch of the Disaster Medicine Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the forces of the radiation chemical and biological protection service were involved in the exercises - a total of 150 people and thirty pieces of equipment.
"Such joint exercises are held at least once every six months," the press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
