Seminar on the clarification of the OECD Guidelines for multinational companies and the activities of the National Contact Center

At the 25^th of June the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Economic Research Institute JSC held a joint online seminar for representatives of central government bodies, local executive bodies, as well as Atameken, non-governmental organizations and trade unions to explain the OECD Guidelines for multinational companies and the activities of the National Contact Center.

Today, international investment is the driving force of the global economy and over the past three decades, the international business environment has undergone a number of significant structural changes. At the same time Responsible business is an important element of an open international investment climate. Activities of multinational enterprises often cover several countries and various cultural, legal and regulatory conditions.

Thereby, the relevance of the seminar is significant, during which the following issues were considered:

• cooperation of Kazakhstan with the OECD;
• internal organization rules of the National Contact Center;
• the procedure for submitting applications and handling complaints to the National Contact Center;
• OECD guidelines for multinational companies.

The speakers of the seminar were:

Nurlan Shokbarbaev - Director of the Investment Policy Department of the MNE of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

Ruslan Sultanov - Chairman of the Board of the Economic Research Institute;

Tatyana Zinovich - member of the National Contact Center, director of the Center for Legal Policy Research Public Foundation

The online seminar was attended by about 40 participants. Following the results of the seminar, participants expressed a general opinion on the relevance and timeliness of its holding.
