Department of the penal System in the city of Astana

The Department of the Penal Enforcement System for the City of Astana primarily focuses on implementing state policy in the field of execution of criminal penalties within the capital. The Department ensures law and order and security in subordinate institutions, organizes the execution of non-custodial sentences, and exercises control over the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of convicted persons.

As a territorial subdivision of the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Department provides leadership to the bodies and institutions of the penal enforcement system in the city of Astana, coordinates their activities, and implements measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of sentence enforcement, preventing offenses, and facilitating the social reintegration of convicted persons.
