A Museum of the Penal Correction System Opened in Astana: “Guardian of History, Educator of Spirit”
A solemn opening ceremony of the new Museum of the Penal Correction System was held at the Department of the Penal Correction System in Astana. The museum has become a platform for preserving historical memory, promoting education, and fostering open dialogue with society.
The exhibition showcases the stages of development of the penal correction system, the heroism of employees during the Great Patriotic War, and the names of those who showed bravery while performing their official duties. Special attention in the museum is given to the humanistic aspect of the penal system, as well as to the resocialization and educational work with inmates.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, veterans, and employees of the Department took part in the opening ceremony. At the end of the event, participants, together with veterans of the penal correction system, planted coniferous trees. These trees symbolize endurance and stability, renewal and loyalty — qualities inherent to law enforcement officers.
