Organization of activities of the youth movement against extremism with the aim of reducing the risk of involving the country's youth in extremist and destructive religious movements
Youth movement against extremism
Work on the prevention of extremism with youth is one of the central points of the Joint Plan of Action for the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia.
The main conceptual note of the project is the training of professional speakers from among young specialists for carrying out preventive measures against religious extremism and destructive religious influence on the basis of the “equal to equal” principle among young people.
In the period from October 23 to November 5, 2019, 2-day training seminars were held in Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda regions and Almaty and Shymkent cities.
In each region, more than 80 people (students and undergraduates of higher educational institutions, students of secondary specialized educational institutions, representatives of regional youth and volunteer organizations) participated in the event.
Well-known blogger Yakov Fedorov, chairman of the board of the “Together with Us” public foundation Ulikhan Turarbekuly, expert of the “Congress of Religious Scholars” Meiram Imanbaev, as well as journalist Mahabbat Yessen and Orken Kenzhebek participated as speakers.
The 2-day training seminars were followed by the republican campaign “QAZAQSTAN WITHOUT EXTREMISM!” and a competition among leaders of the youth anti-extremist movement in such nominations as: “Best publication in social media, “Best creative campaign on countering religious extremism”, “Best organizer of the volunteer movement”.
On November 22, 2019, the results of the republican contest were announced with the awarding of valuable prizes to the winners.
Information coverage of each seminar was carried out both in regional and national mass media: “Khabar24”, “Life09”, “TDK-42”, “Toppress.kz”, “Nurtv.kz”, “Kazislam.kz”, “Аbai.kz” , "Arasha.kz", newspaper "Egemen Kazakhstan", newspaper "Turkistan", newspaper "Industrial Karaganda" and popular social networks.
Pages have been created on popular social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, VKontakte, where young professionals will share their work experience and achievements in countering religious extremism (https://m.facebook.com/Stop-Extremism-Kz-04284027671918/?ref=bookmarks,https://m.vk.com/public187943037?from=groups,https://instagram.com/stopextremismkz?igshid=z7p04sj7ktdn).
