Main tasks and functions of the Department

Tasks of the Department:

• implementation of statistical activities in compliance with the principles of state statistics;
• meeting the needs of society, the State and the international community for official statistical information.

Functions of the Department:

• develops proposals for the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of state statistics;
• makes suggestions on the formation of statistical methodology;
• conducts nationwide statistical observations in accordance with the statistical work plan;
• makes proposals when forming a statistical work plan, a schedule for the presentation of primary statistical data by respondents and a schedule for the dissemination of official statistical information for the upcoming calendar year by July 1 of the year preceding the planned one;
• provides respondents with statistical forms and instructions for filling them in when they submit primary statistical data;
• ensures the storage of primary statistical data, administrative data on paper and in electronic form in due time;
• develops, approves and coordinates with the Bureaucracy organizational plans for the national population census of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• participates in the development of census forms;
• conducts a pilot census;
• conducts national censuses;

ensures the implementation of the National Census Plan;

• carries out state control in the field of state statistics in relation to administrative sources in the form of preventive control without visiting and with visiting administrative sources;
• carries out state control in the field of state statistics in relation to respondents in the form of preventive control without visiting respondents;
• carries out proceedings on cases of administrative offenses, initiates, considers cases of administrative offenses and imposes administrative penalties on offenses in the field of state statistics in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation on administrative offenses;
• clarifies the reliability of household accounting data;
• carries out, within the competence, monitoring, analysis and comparison of data received by the Bureau from official sources;
• conducts price registration;
• participates in ensuring the formation and updating of information and statistical systems, databases and their platforms, registers of statistics, the Bureau's Internet resource;
• provides accumulation, maintenance and updating of information statistical databases on the socio-economic situation of the region and its cities, districts;
• participates in ensuring the formation of statistical information that is not provided for by the schedule for the dissemination of official statistical information;
• participates in ensuring the formation of statistical publications and the dissemination of official statistical information to be distributed in accordance with the schedule of dissemination of statistical information;
• uses administrative data exclusively for updating statistical registers;
• approves the list of officials who have access to information constituting a tax secret;
• ensures compliance with laws and other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan within its competence;
• performs other functions assigned to the Department by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
