Ferrous metallurgy is one of the main areas of heavy industry. Economically developed states assign a special role to metallurgy. After all, without the production of cast iron and steel, it is impossible to further advance scientific and technological progress. It is metallurgy that provides raw materials and working materials for the construction sector, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, aircraft construction and other important branches of modern industry and economy.
The high level of economic development in most countries rich in natural resources is achieved through the intensification of their extraction and processing into finished products with high added value, as well as the supply to international markets of not only metals themselves, but also competitive products from them.
As is known, the raw materials contributing to the development of ferrous metallurgy in the republic are iron ore, deposits of chromite and manganese ores, coking coals, flux and refractory raw materials. The analysis shows that the raw material base of ferrous metallurgy has sufficient reserves, the development of which is capable not only to ensure the efficient operation of metallurgical enterprises of the republic, but also to supply their products for export.
In Kazakhstan, the coal industry is one of the largest sectors of the economy. Currently, the country's coal industry has achieved positive results in increasing coal production and increasing the economic potential of coal companies. Unprecedented transformations in terms of scale and time made it possible to ensure the transition of the coal industry to market relations.
The main task in the coal industry is to strengthen efforts to support the preservation of the level of coal production in the country by expanding programs for integrated deep processing of coal, production of diesel fuel and other liquid synthetic products from coal, and diversification of export supplies. Taking into account global trends, it is necessary to develop coal chemistry and complex deep processing of coal. This direction can provide a qualitative change in the consumer properties of products and, accordingly, increase its market price, and most importantly - will allow you to go beyond the market of thermal coal.
Today, the coal industry of Kazakhstan fully meets the fuel needs of the municipal sector and the population, provides 100% loading of coke production, 74% - electricity generation in the country. It is thanks to coal that electricity in our country is one of the cheapest in the CIS countries and in the world.
