First correctional room for special children opened in Atyrau

In the building of Secondary School No. 42 named after. N. Balgymbayev opened an office for psychological and pedagogical correction, which can simultaneously provide assistance to 150 children with developmental disabilities. Akim of the region Serik Shapkenov took part in its opening, the Press Service of the Akim of the region reports.

Also present were representatives of the Dara Foundation, EastTradeSolutions LLP, teachers, parents and children.

At the event, the head of the region expressed confidence that the office opened for the first time in the city of Atyrau will have a positive impact on the upbringing, training and personal development of children and adolescents with special educational needs.

“President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the heads of local executive bodies to create conditions for children to receive quality education and upbringing. The office opened today is one of the measures in this direction. A child's smile is worth a lot. We must create comfortable conditions for special children; they must grow up in society. As Magzhan Zhumabayev said: “Raising a child is not about making him like the teacher, but about raising him in accordance with the demands of the time.” This is the main purpose of creating such an office. Today the children greeted us with songs, dances and poems. This is a great joy and achievement; their talents are revealed. Dear parents, you contribute to the development of your child, making efforts to make him feel as comfortable as possible in society. Teachers, you are doing a great good work. May your efforts bring good results. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express special gratitude to the Dara charitable foundation and East Tarde Solutions LLP, which, as part of the social responsibility of business, gave such an office to the children,” S. Shapkenov noted.

Next, the akim of the region presented letters of gratitude to the representative of East Tarde Solutions LLP Rakhat Darmesh and the Head of the Dara Foundation Gulnar Dosayeva.

Psychological and pedagogical correction rooms (PPCR) are a center that provides comprehensive assistance to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, offering professional support from speech therapists, psychologists, adaptive physical education instructors and other specialists. 16 teachers work here free of charge.

The classroom is equipped with adaptive physical education complexes, a Montessori room, sensory, rhythmic, educational rooms, means of alternative communication, didactic and methodological material, and there is also a playroom with elements of social and life orientation.

For reference: according to the psychological, medical and pedagogical consultation of the city of Atyrau, 2,780 children in the city of Atyrau, including 647 children with disabilities, need these services.
