Akim of Atyrau region Makhambet Dosmukhambetov received the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Aktau city Atabek Tursynbekov, the press service of the akim of the region reports. Akim of the region Makhambet Dosmukhambetov said that every year cooperation between fraternal countries - Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of independence this year is strengthening. Also, he congratulated the Consul General Atabek Tursynbekov on the anniversary of independence, thanking him for his work on the development of cooperation between the Atyrau region and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Along with this, the head of the region noted that there are ample opportunities for further expansion of bilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the creation of joint ventures and the joining of efforts of entrepreneurs.

In turn, the Consul General said that two large enterprises of the Khorezm region are closely working with the western region of Kazakhstan, noting their interest in further expanding ties.

Also, Atabek Tursynbekov proposed in the future to consider the possibility of launching a direct passenger train between Uzbekistan and the city of Atyrau to strengthen bilateral trade turnover and increase citizens' travel.

For your information, according to customs statistics, in January-October of this year, the foreign trade turnover of the Atyrau region with Uzbekistan amounted to 35 million dollars, including exports - 26 million dollars, imports - 9 million dollars. Also, 18 enterprises with the participation of Uzbek capital operate in the region.
