Atyrau schoolgirl presented a new method of obtaining dyes from plants
Ainur Muratova, a 9th-grade student of the Kosaral Secondary School of the Makhambet district of the Atyrau region, defended the project entitled "Obtaining and Using a Natural Indicator" and took first place, the Press Service of the Directorate of Education of the region reports.
As part of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the great scientist Abu Nasyr al-Farabi, the Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Daryn" held a republican competition of scientific projects named after al-Farabi among students of grades 8-11 in order to develop students' interest in research. The jury appreciated the project of a schoolgirl from Atyrau.
According to scientific supervisor Ainur Muratova Sandugash Kabazova, 263 students from all regions of the country took part in the online competition.
"My student and I have developed a new project. In her research, Ainur proved in practice that indicators (natural dyes) can be obtained manually from natural raw materials. It has been found that the composition of natural plants often changes color due to environmental influences," she said.
Ainur Muratova says that her research can be used not only in chemistry but also in everyday life. She also noted that dishwashing detergents "Myth", "Fairy", "AOS", all kinds of aromatic soaps are produced by a similar chemical reaction.
"Detergents, widely used in everyday life, are chemically produced in an alkaline and slightly alkaline environment. Therefore, in the future, I will study the topic of obtaining dyes from natural plants. If the study of the composition of natural plants and the extraction of natural dyes from them were included in the school curriculum, in the textbooks on "Natural Science" 5th, 6th grades and "Chemistry" 7th grades, there would be many young scientists," she said.
