On November 13, 2020, members of the Atyrau Regional Territorial Election Commission and representatives of the regional society of the disabled, the society of the deaf took part in the videoconference mode at the meeting of the Working group at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on ensuring the electoral rights of disabled and public life of society"
The purpose of the event is to inform the general public about the key principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in terms of political and public participation of persons with disabilities, about the work carried out by the CEC to ensure the electoral rights of persons with disabilities, OSCE standards in the field of political participation of persons with disabilities, the results of a baseline study on inclusiveness and accessibility of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as joint work in this direction of the state, NGOs and international organizations.
In the region, together with the regional akimat, an action plan was approved for the implementation of the resolution of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 21, 2018 No. 24/217
"On approval of the Recommendations on ensuring the electoral rights of citizens with disabilities."
In order to inform and organize the participation of people with disabilities in the electoral process, a schedule of meetings with representatives of public associations representing the interests of people with disabilities in the Atyrau region has been developed.
