A meeting took place in Astana between the Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy Asset Makhambetov and the Chief Executive Officer of Orano Mining Xavier Saint Martin Tillet (ORANO Group). The representatives of NAC Kazatomprom JSC were also in attendance.
The participants highlighted that the KATCO joint venture, founded in 1996, stands as a flagship of bilateral cooperation in the uranium mining sector. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for advancing cooperation in the nuclear industry both within Kazakhstan and internationally, including in the areas of research and development (R&D) and the training of qualified personnel.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the partnership and agreed to continue the joint work.

The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy held a meeting with a delegation of the United Kingdom led by Lord John Alderdice, Member of the House of Lords and the United Kingdom Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy, including the safe deployment of innovative nuclear technologies, as well as potential areas of scientific collaboration and personnel training.
Deputy Chairman of the Agency Asset Makhambetov presented an overview of the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan’s nuclear sector, highlighting the country’s efforts to establish a national nuclear cluster, improve the regulatory framework, and strengthen human resource potential.
Lord John Alderdice emphasized Kazakhstan’s high potential in the field of nuclear energy and reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s readiness to further enhance partnership in mutually beneficial areas.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in deepening dialogue and implementing joint projects in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and agreed to continue expert consultations through relevant government bodies and scientific-technical organizations.
A working meeting was held in Astana between Deputy Chairmen of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy Asset Makhambetov and Vassiliy Lavrenov with Senior Vice President of the French state energy company Électricité de France (EDF) Vakis Ramany. Representatives of Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants LLP also took part in the meeting.
The parties discussed the possibility of EDF's participation in the implementation of the project to build a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan as part of an international consortium. Particular attention was paid to issues of scientific and technical cooperation, as well as the possibilities of cooperation in the field of small and medium-power reactors.
Following the meeting, two sides agreed to continue the joint work on developing the cooperation.
