The rapid adoption of modern technologies creates new opportunities for both consumers of financial services and financial institutions, increasing the speed, accessibility and convenience of financial services. At the same time, technological development also gives rise to new threats, including cyber risks.
Cyber risks include:
• theft of funds from clients of financial institutions resulting from violations of security requirements when using mobile banking applications;
• financial losses incurred by financial institutions due to inadequate information security management of business processes and information systems;
• disruptions to the reliability and continuity of financial services caused by insufficient business continuity management within financial institutions;
• the emergence of systemic risks resulting from cyberattacks targeting systemically important financial institutions and supporting financial market infrastructure.
To mitigate these risks, the Agency promotes cyber resilience among financial institutions, informs market participants about emerging cyber threats and appropriate response measures, and monitors compliance with information security requirements established by regulatory acts.
