Prudential standards are regulatory requirements established by the Agency for financial institutions, branches of non-resident banks, branches of non-resident insurance (reinsurance) companies and branches of non-resident insurance brokers to ensure their financial stability and protect the interests of consumers of financial services.
Approaches to prudential regulation are based on international standards developed by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS), the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), relevant European Union regulatory frameworks and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB).
