Akmola Region, Kazakhstan — The organizers of the 10th Anniversary Specialized Field Demonstration Exhibition “Kazakhstan Field Day – Jańa Dala / Green Day 2026” have announced the launch of a unique media project. As part of the continued celebration of the Year of Working Professions, the organizing team has embarked on a tour across the districts of the Akmola Region. The mission of the expedition is to produce a series of exclusive short interviews with shepherds, livestock breeders, and horse herders.
Livestock herding is one of the cornerstones of Kazakhstan’s agricultural economy, yet it often remains behind the scenes. Today, more than 45% of the country’s total cattle population is raised on private household farms. The livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of rural families, as well as the region’s food security, depend directly on the tireless, around-the-clock work of these dedicated people of the steppe.

As part of a working trip to the Shortandinsky district, Akim of the region Marat Akhmetzhanov visited the fields of Petrovskoye JSC and met with agricultural producers of the district.
The head of the region stressed that Akmola region is the breadbasket of the country and the main agricultural region. According to him, it is the agrarian formations of the region that should become the drivers of the industry's development.:
"A good harvest, high returns and social responsibility should go hand in hand. It is necessary to effectively use the fertility of the land, apply a scientific approach and competently use government support. The Head of State clearly indicated at the National Kurultai that agriculture should become the driver of the economy," said Marat Akhmetzhanov.
199.5 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops and about 40 thousand hectares of fodder crops were sown in the Shortandinsky district. To date, 30% of the acreage has been harvested, 108.9 thousand hectares have been harvested with an average yield of 15.5 c/ha.
The Department of Agriculture and Land Relations of the Akmola Region informs you that in order to receive cheaper diesel fuel (10.0 thousand tons), agricultural producers and grain receiving enterprises of the region must submit an application as soon as possible and select an operator on the website "gosagro.kz" (from September 3 of this year).

It should be recalled that in February of this year, as part of the regional akim's working trip to the Republic of Estonia, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Akmola region and the Muuga Grain Terminal. This agreement has opened up new opportunities for the region's products to enter the European market.
Thanks to the agreements reached, agricultural producers in the region have gained direct access to export supplies through the Estonian terminal, which allows them to expand the geography of supplies and strengthen the position of Kazakhstani grain in Europe.

Akmola region is one of the three leaders of the country in agriculture. Last year, the region harvested a record harvest, and farmers received significant government support – preferential loans, cheaper fuel, equipment leasing and the construction of dairy farms. Akim of the region Marat Akhmetzhanov spoke about the achievements and plans in this area at the briefing.
In 2024, the region's farmers showed the best result in recent years – 6.6 million tons of grain were harvested. Currently, the work is not slowing down: efforts are aimed at strengthening the region's position and maintaining record figures.
According to Marat Akhmetzhanov, the region is showing steady growth in all key areas. Today, the region produces more than a quarter of Kazakhstan's total wheat – about 5.2 million tons, 30% of poultry meat (125 thousand tons per year) and 16% of eggs (about 690 million pieces). Since the beginning of the year, the volume of agricultural sector products has increased from 149 to 161 billion tenge.
