Training of the sports reserve in the region is carried out by 29 sports schools (including 4 schools of the Olympic reserve), the school of higher sports skills and the regional specialized boarding school-College of the Olympic reserve named after Bogenbay-Batyr. There is a regional training center for the Olympic reserve in Kokshetau.
In sports schools, OSHIKOR and shvsm 48 sports are cultivated (26 of them are Olympic) with the number of 15237 people involved.
The region currently has 7 professional teams competing in the Championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan – in ice hockey HC "Arlan", in football – FC" Okzhetpes "(men's and women's), in basketball - BC" Sinegorye "(men's and women's), in Futsal – MFC" Okzhetpes "and men's volleyball team"Ushkyn".
The national teams of the Republic of Kazakhstan in various sports include 406 athletes of the Akmola region, including: 237 for Olympic and 169 for non – Olympic (2019 – 364 people).
