Alakol (Alakol, from ala kol — bright, colorful lake) is a bitter — salty drainless lake of Kazakhstan, located on the Balkhash-Alakol lowland, which is located on the border of Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions, in the eastern part of the Balkhash-Alakol basin in south-eastern Kazakhstan.
