Thanks to the active measures taken, 641.2 billion tenge of investments were attracted to the Almaty region in 2019. Growth for the year was 7%, of which more than 80% — extra-budgetary investments. At the same time, for 7 months of this year, the volume of investments in fixed assets amounted to 292.5 billion tenge, which is 11.2% more than in the same period of 2019.
As you know, the Head of state pays special attention to the development of regions. Key state programs are being successfully implemented in Almaty region. In General, the region has achieved growth in all areas of the economy over the past year and a half.
It should be noted that 1407 industrial enterprises operate in Almaty region, including 32 large and 64 medium-sized ones. They employ more than 85 thousand people. The share of manufacturing in the total volume of industry is the highest in the Republic — 86.6%. The overall growth in industrial production is due to the growth in food production.
Today, more than 123,572 thousand small and medium-sized businesses operate in the Almaty region, employing more than 251.5 thousand people. The volume of output for the 12 months of 2019 increased by 10%. The expected volume by the end of this year is 1684.3 billion tenge.
The agro-industrial complex plays a significant role in the development of the region's economy. The volume of acreage increases annually. For example, the sown area this year compared to last year increased by 4.9 thousand hectares and brought to 966.5 thousand hectares. As a support provided on an ongoing basis to farmers of the region, 60.7 thousand sown units of sugar beet seeds were purchased through JSC "RIR SEC "Zhetysu" at the end of 2019 for a total amount of 1,761. 2 million tenge.
At the same time, one of the priority areas of the region is tourism. The number of tourists in the region has doubled over the past 5 years and amounted to 2 million 227 thousand people. This year, the region plans to complete the construction of 27 tourism facilities in the amount of 4.2 billion tenge. On the territory of the mountain cluster, it is planned to implement major investment projects to expand the existing mountain resorts "OI-Karagai-Aport", "AK Bulak", "Turgen", "ParkCanyon" for a total of 542.7 billion tenge of private investment.
Within the framework of the business support Map of the region, the following projects were commissioned this year: Zhetysu Mazhiko Agrocomplex LLP, NauryzAgro LLP, Zhetysu Soy LLP. By the end of the year, it is planned to put into operation a cement plant, a poultry farm for the production of quail eggs, a modern industrial plant for deep processing of soybeans, greenhouses, and a plant for processing oilseeds. It is also planned to modernize the first production line for the production of ceramic plates and introduce 5 lines for the production of traditional pasta.
Such large well-known companies as "Mareven Food Tien-Shan", "Hamle company LTD", "Asia agro Food", "Coca-Cola Almaty Bottlers", "RG BrandsKazakhstan", "Galanzbotlers"develop their production in the region. Together with development institutions, work is being carried out on an ongoing basis to provide state support to exporting enterprises.
In this regard, it is worth noting the work in the field of attracting investment. In order to assist investors in the region, since 2014, the regional development center of Almaty region LLP has been operating, which serves as a front office in accordance with the principles of "One window" and "Green corridor". The investment component of the region's development is provided for the short and long term. For this purpose, a pool of investment projects of the Almaty region has been formed, which currently includes 469 projects (for 42,000 jobs), of which 279 projects are at various stages of implementation and provide a steady flow of investment to the region in the foreseeable future.
