Youth policy

Almaty Region is currently one of the leading regions of the country in terms of youth population. In 2025, the number of young people aged 14 to 35 reached 432,664, accounting for 28% of the region's total population. There is a significant difference in the distribution between urban and rural areas: 66,440 young people reside in cities, while 366,224 live in rural areas.

The Department for Youth Policy of the region implements a range of programs aimed at improving the quality of life for young people, protecting their rights, and supporting their socio-economic development. Under the department’s coordination operates the Youth Resource Center (YRC), which employs 91 staff members. The center carries out a comprehensive set of measures focused on the social development of young people, support for youth initiatives, and engagement with NEET youth (those not in education, employment, or training).
