The total length of roads in the Almaty Region is 12,338.6 km, including:

• 1,668 km of national roads;

• 66 km of the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD);

• 3,404 km of regional roads;

• 592 km of district roads;

• 5,848 km of the street and road network;

• 760.6 km of urban roads.

There are 132 bridges and 3,172 culverts located on roads of regional significance.

Within the territory of the Almaty Region, 24 transport operators provide passenger and baggage transportation services, operating a fleet of 708 buses of various capacities. The region is served by 7 bus stations and passenger service points.

The route network of the Almaty Region includes 147 bus routes, comprising:

• 32 interregional routes;

• 58 intra-district (urban) routes;

• 57 suburban routes.
